The defense, which has been somewhat problematic for a number of years in Cincinnati is really hoping to improve in 2007 with the drafting of CB Leon Hall, S Marvin White and the additions of LB Al Wilson and DE Grant Wistrom. With the re-vamped defensive look, and the returning explosive offense lead by quarterback Carson Palmer, hopes are high in Bengal nation. WHO DEY! WEEK 1 - vs. Baltimore Ravens Bengals come from behind and pull out the win with 4th quarter rally Final Score: Bengals 14, Ravens 10 The GameRundown:-A hard fought defensive struggle for both teams, as evident by the low score. Cincinnati's defense did surprisingly well against the Ravens offensive assault despite Baltimore going into halftime with a 10-0 lead over Cincinnati after having scored on a 29 yard run by McGahee in the 1st qtr and a 27 yard FG by Matt Stover in the 2nd, Baltimore seemed to have Cincinnati in check. -The third quarter was probably the biggest defensive quarter of the entire game with no team garnering ANY points what so ever. Cincinnati's defense continued to step up, however the offense seemed a little bit lack luster. However, the biggest dissapointment was Shayne Graham missing two third quarter FGs after the offense failed to produce touchdowns. -The fourth quarter was probably the most intense of the entire game as Cincinnati came from behind to seal the victory. Cincinnati scored on their first drive of the fourth quarter, a 7 yard run by Rudi Johnson, as the offense started to look rather sharp, especially up front in the trenches which created some big running lanes. Later, after two more defensive stands, Carson Palmer connected with Chris Henry for a 8 yard TD pass that put Cincinnati up 14-10 with 1:03 to play. The Ravens got the ball back, however on the ensuing drive Steve McNair was hurt and replaced by Kyle Boller, who went three and out against the Bengals defense. With a fourth and long stand against the Ravens, Carson Palmer took a knee to let time expire and Cincinnati escaped with the victory. -Chad Johnson didn't smell the end zone on Monday night but did put up an impressive 102 yards receiving on 5 catches for a 20.3yd avg. -Despite Rudi scoring almost half of the Bengals points this week, he was a mere 36 yards on 17 carries (2.1yd avg). The offensive line really struggled in the early going of the game, but showed much improvement in the fourth quarter as things seemed to finally get rolling for the Bengals offense. Game Stats:_________ | Bengals | Ravens | Rush Yards | 33 | 89 | Pass Yards | 181 | 78 | Total Offense | 214 | 167 | Total Yards | 275 | 199 | First Downs | 10 | 6 | 3rd Down Conversion | 4/9 (44%) | 3/8 (37%) | Redzone Performance | 4 att/2 td/0 fg (50%) | 1 att/0 td/1 fg (100%) | Turnovers | 0 | 1 | Penalties | 6 for 42 yards | 2 for 29 yards | Time of Possession | 17:16 | 10:44 |
Week 1 AwardsOffensive Player Of The Game: Carson Palmer -Carson Palmer had a QB rating of 111.8 this past week while going 13/20 for 187 yards and 1 touchdown. Defensive Player Of The Game: Landon Johnson -Landon Johnson showed this week while he was chosen to start over offseason acquisition Ed Hartwell. Johnson was constantly around the ball all day, finishing with 4 tackles and 3 broken up passes. Next WeekAfter Monday night's hard fought win over Baltimore, Cincinnati looks to head to Cleveland next week to take on the Brady Quinn led Browns in this first meeting of the season against their bitter AFC North rivals. Cincinnati can hope their aggressive defense shows up as it did against Baltimore in Week 1, but the offense needs to play all four quarters and be explosive as they can be to have a shot against not only the Browns, but the entire NFL in the coming weeks of the 2007 season.

Cool stuff man . I'm surprised, this is actually somewhat interesting. yeah.. i know i wont garner alot of responses here, but i tried to make it a little bit more fun for people who do read it by kind of adding a journalistic/realistic approach to this diary/journal, even if it is really pretty much just something for me to do in my spare time. BTB dont have a video game board or anything for Madden in their forums, does it? i really should stop by more often. also, i think i'm gonna keep on the same timeline as the NFL, and probably only do one game a week. i may move a tad bit faster, but i think it'll be interesting to see how I do as opposed to how my team actually does this year. that, and im somewhat busy as i went back to high school this year to graduate and am still working.

WEEK 2 - at Cleveland Browns Bengals finally get going on all cylinders, roll past Browns Final Score: Bengals 31, Browns 10 The GameRundown:-Cincinnati did just as they needed to to defeat division rival Cleveland. The defense was just as dominant as they were against Baltimore, if not even more aggressive as the rookie Brady Quinn was under center for the Browns in only his second ever NFL start. The stats suggest the game was close, or atleast should have been. However, Cincinnati pretty much dominated the game out of the gates. -Despite Cleveland keeping the game close in the first quarter and holding Cincinnati early on, the Cleveland's defense began to look more and more tired as Cincinnati pounded away with RB Rudi Johnson. Johnson once again had somewhat of a dismal day stat wise, but he helped wear down the Cleveland front as he pounded the rock on 22 carries for 56 yards and 1 td. -Chad Johnson, coming off of a big (albeit touchdown free) Week 1, found the endzone 2 times against Cleveland, finishing out the day with 170 yards on 4 catches... and didn't even come close to sniffing Week 2's offensive player award. -The defensive line really seemed to be clicking today, completely terrorizing rookie QB Brady Quinn. DT John Thornton, and DE's Grant Wistrom and Justin Smith both had sacks on the day, as Cleveland's o-line completely got dominated in the trenches. Game Stats:_________ | Bengals | Browns | Rush Yards | 56 | 56 | Pass Yards | 292 | 204 | Total Offense | 348 | 260 | Total Yards | 439 | 349 | First Downs | 10 | 9 | 3rd Down Conversion | 4/9 (44%) | 2/9 (22%) | Redzone Performance | 2 att/2 td/0 fg (100%) | 4 att/1 td/1 fg (50%) | Turnovers | 0 | 1 | Penalties | 2 for 20 yards | 1 for 17 yards | Time of Possession | 15:53 | 13:07 |
Week 2 AwardsOffensive Player Of The Game: Carson Palmer -Ladies and gentleman, here's CARSON! For the second week in a row the golden boy from Southern Cal wins the Offensive Player of the Week award. Carson not only led his Bengals to victory, but looked impressive in doing so. He completed 12/20 passes for 292 yds, 3 td for a 143.7 QB rating. Congrats to Carson, and can he keep the streak alive in Week 3? Defensive Player Of The Game: The D-Line -Who ever thought the defensive line in Cincinnati would be something to brag about? Well it happened in Week 2, as the d-line really helped generate a great pass rush against rookie QB Brady Quinn and hold RB Jamal Lewis to only 57 yards. Next WeekThe offense finally got its wheels going and the defense is starting to look sharp, but can both sides keep it up on a consistent basis? Next week Cincinnati heads to Seattle for their second straight road game where they hope to put up another W in their favor to start off the 2007 campaign at 3-0 and remain the top seed in the AFC North. However, Seattle will be no easy pushover for the men in orange and black. With this game possibly being Cincinnati's biggest test of the season thus far, one can only wonder which team will show up next week; the Bengals or the Bungles?

WEEK 3 - at Seattle Seahawks Seahawks win at home Final Score: Bengals 22, Seahawks 31 The GameI ran across a little problem already. I went and loaded up my franchise the other day, and it was set up for me to play Week 2... seems for whatever reason I didn't save my win after the Browns, and i had also played and beat Seattle and had complete stats and everything typed up, which would have put my team at 3-0. Well, not wanting to replay those damn games, I simmed against the Browns and got the W as well, so my record was 2-0, as it is here. However, I went and simmed the Seahawks game... and got a L. I tried to back out so I could re-sim it and hopefully maybe get a W, but the damn game saved as I backed out to reload my franchise! Why it didn't do it the other day when I originally beat them is beyond me, but eh. No results or nothing for Week 3, just know that Seattle got the simmed win over Cincinnati. I'm going to move ahead and play my Week 4 vs Patriots and post results sometime today or in the next couple of days.
