Finally...a thread for all 5 of us hockey fans who have been anticipating the release of these new games! ;D
I'm picking up NHL 2008 for PS3 tomorrow from GameStop, and I'm so stoked to start my Rangers dynasty. New minor league teams is going to be crazy. I can't wait!

I'm one of those 5 fans. I'm going to get the game for PS2. So far it has been getting good reviews. I have low expectations though for the last-gen versions, but at least they added in the skill stick. And like ThugSuperstar, I will be starting my Rangers dynasty

I'm going to pick up 08 after work today.
And by the way, just so we're all clear, EA and 2K will be releasing a code that you can put in the game, and it'll unlock the new RBK Edge jerseys/designs once all 30 teams have released theirs. So don't get worried they didn't put them in when you get the game.

Everyone says that NHL 08 for PS2 is the same as prior years and that it has improved for the new consoles.
I'm picking it up for PS2 tomorrow since I'm busy tonight.

ps2 is the same as previous years. Same videos after the game with the losers hanging over the boards depressed. And to top that off one thing that i think is extremely bad, being from Buffalo, i had to be the Sabres first. To sum it up quick, Ryan Miller has his old black and red pads and mask, while sporting the "newer" blue and yellow jersey. I know its small but it ticks me off a lot

I picked up '08 this afternoon and it's such an awesome game. New animations, all the AHL teams, tons of roster depth. Easily the most realistic hockey game I've ever played. I can't wait to get better so I can start my dynasty.

i didnt preorder this game which was stupid of me, but i finally found one cause it was selling out everywhere for 360. all i have to say is wow! its amazing! i played a couple regular games, then checked out the new practice mode which was a lot of fun and then made my own team. i knew it was going to be better than last years but it blows it away.
easports announced saturday the code will be released for all the jerseys!!!

Wow, EA finally got a good game.
Last year was a big year when they retooled 2K's dangle/analog stick to make the Skill Stick and showed us amazing visuals.
This year they brought those back x2, and added actual gameplay this time.
Kudos, from a former 2K gamer.

I played the demo at my buddy's, and yes.. I totally blind-bought 08. It's so god damn smooth.
I still have beef with the goalies, though. Some real softies are being let in, but whatever.
Offense has never been more fun to play. Ever. You can set up some amazing plays. It's unreal!

By the way, if you have a choice to get either the PS3 or 360 version, pick the 360 version. Reviewers say PS3's 30 fps makes it look like they're playing under a strobe light.
360 + 60 fps = teh win
