explain stretching to me. I have a general but I want the more educated version. andile, you've been stretched before? Stretching is done by people to "break" other into the business, i really don't see a point in it anymore, but some people still like to do it, not realizing the 70s are over

Yeah ive been stretched, but by someone who had the "right" and had done something in this bussiness.
I think its stupid, but it happens. I wouldnt take it from anyone who hadnt done anything in the bussiness.
Nac your sig says youve been training/working for less than two years, you really shouldnt be stretching anyone. I realize the school you come from is half shoot style, but if you brought that somewhere else with your lack of years in the bussiness, im pretty sure a vet would "crapin your lunchbox".

Well working with vets at shows is one thing, of course you never display a superiority over anyone who's been doing it longer than you have (regardless of age or whatever). So no, I wouldn't offer to stretch a vet lol. But when it comes to a training session, he has every right to try and stretch me as I would him. That's what's called the "process of learning", and if you comprehend the holes in eachother's game, you progress forward and learn more, new things, as well as build that comradory amoungst who you're training with. It's just a simple invitation to come check out a school, don't get your panties in a bunch

No ones panties are in a bunch, but stretching teaches you NOTHING, unless its from a vet in a match and you botch a spot and even then all that teaches is "dont up again ok kid?". Youve got a real odd outlook on training and getting better, how is intentionally hurting someone less experienced gonna help them improve. Its a work.

there is no such thing as deep south wrestling anymore . there is fCW in florida. ran by wwe. dude WWE flavor is the old school right way to wrestle ,they will teach you not to be a flippy floppy spot monkey & they will teach the most important part of wrestling most of these new schools don't teach ring psychology. the only other wrestling school in the deep south that is worth going to is dory funk's in Florida.. dory funks school is good one . they only other 2 school worth going to in America is Harley races WLW & killer Kowaski's school.in canada it is lance storm school. the rest of the schoolas in amrica suck & will not teach you how to wrestle right . the othere schools will just make you into flippy floppy spot monkey with no ring psychology .ring psychology is the most part of wrestling & x-division style of wrestling has no ring psychology at all. - Also Booker Ts school and Team 3Ds school both teach what my man right here is talking about. Bookers is in Texas, which is the area you said you were looking into. Check Bookers website. If you want to go to one in Florida go to Team 3Ds, they may not of wrestled in the 70s like Dory but you got a lot more to utilize at there school as far as weights and a video library. i am fan of Booker t & TEAm 3D but i would not want to elarn form them they really are not that good of wreslter compared to dory funk or harley race,. you would learn more from going to harley races WLW school ,dory funks school & killer Kowaski's then you will ever learn form booker t & team 3d. so what they have weights & a video library. that does not mean they are better or no more . you would still learn more from harley race & dory funk then anywhere else & they includes booker t's school & team 3d's school..

Wrestling is a work, no need to try and legit hurt someone, or stretch them. Too many people take the s*** too far.

Its just like teasing as a child, you do it to make yourself feel better and stronger and bigger to compensate for your own flaws. Go ahead and get yourself over in your own head by stretching.

Sad thing is you're probably one of those people that only stretch the people that wont fight back. I guess stiffing is right too huh? I'd like to see half you guys stiff or stretch someone who will fight back. Most you guys who do that are nothing but certified p****** and know it so have to compensate for it. Just like why people with small ***** have to buy nice cars.

I respect this business as much as anyone, but people need to change with the times. I've been doiing it for 5 years now, and went through the s***, so I've been there and paid my dues. Hell half the old school people don' agree with stretching either. Harley Race don't stretch his students, because he don't agree with it. So is Harley Race a girly punk? Does Race not respect the business? He is legit one of the toughest bastards in this business. Get over yourself, you wanna stretch something the bathroom is over there, but don't try to show how manly you are to green horns.

If I were you I wouldn't join Booker T's school. That's not even me trying to start crapwith anyone on here that is with PWA, but I've known a few people that have joined, and said they have learned absoloutley nothing from him, and that he just comes around and collects the checks.
I don't know from any first hand experience though. That's just what I've heard. He is a big name though, so if you are looking to make it to the "next level" I guess he would be the guy to go to.

this whole arguement is dumb. old school fans are stuck in their old school ways, eventhough a lot of vets i know arent and have realized stretching and stiffing doesnt teach, it only injures and discourages. there are many other ways to pay your dues.
ring crew is the best way in my opinion, because theres nothing worse than watching the vets change and relax and show up late while you set up a ring and stage for two hours only to go out and wrestle and get beat up, only to spend another two hours to take the ring/stage down while the vets shower and go home. that drives me to work harder and harder just so i can show up and do what i love without all the bs.

Youve got a real odd outlook on training and getting better, how is intentionally hurting someone less experienced gonna help them improve. Its a work. You've obviously never heard the term "TAP" before, have you ... When you're stretched to the point where you feel that discomfort and pain is about to come, you TAP - letting the other know to slack up or let go of the hold. My personal outlook is, that shoot grappling at class is a very fun activity and honestly, when I see guys - whether they've been around longer than me or came into class after I have - getting better, I feel awesome knowing I've helped them in some fasion. One thing Severn teaches us is to teach others - meaning it's ok to help those who come after you (Hell, it's inscribed on the back of his shirts if you ever pickup on one of them). Yes it's a work, but we believe professional wrestling is a martial art. If someone decides they want to mess with you outside of class, you know how to handle your own. And in the ring, if a vet stiffs me, I stiff'em right back and hit'em 3x more to send the message "Don't Stiff Me or I'll Hit Back Harder", and so far, noone's done damage to me. I will work as light as whoever I work with, works with me - if they wanna go strong style, all the better for the believability. If they wanna go light, that's fine too. I don't have to tell you it's all apart of being PROFESSIONAL.

I've been taught some things by New Jack so stiff me I'll stab you. I wish you would.
