Among other things, we get the usual hoo-ha about how Quack got into wrestling and what Chikara is. Jushin Liger, Manami Toyota, Muta, Great Sasuke, old school Michinoku Pro, Jake Roberts, 1-2-3 Kid, Owen Hart are all cool in his book. His fave WWF guys outside of the ones mentioned above were the silly, gimmicky guys like Repo Man, Papa Shango and Max Moon. He never missed a Max Moon match.
He was apparently pretty backward about getting into the business, he'd just show up in the back at wrestling shows hoping he could maybe fill in, annoying the guys in charge. This was BEFORE he'd even gotten any wrestling training. He comments that it's funny that a guy who started out so backward about how to break into the business now runs a wrestling school.
He remembers that early on in his first radio interview that he'd said he'd prefer wrestle in a foreign country exclusively. He also knew from day one that WWF/WWE was never an option because 1. He wasn't interested in wrestling there and 2. He knew he'd never get hired due to his size and influences.
Quack doesn't really watch TV Wrestling, he just keeps abreast of what happens, but doesn't really watch it. Though has enjoyed watch WWECW to watch Colin get beaten up.
Quack says a lot of Chikara's success and exposure comes from their business relationships with Smart Mark Video and Wiggly and the Smart Wrestling Fan crew. They wouldn't be where they are today without them.
Quack says 07 was the best year for him career-wise, one that he'll have trouble topping. He recounted how he was mocked by someone as being "washed up" at a previous TPI, and thinks he did pretty well since then. His fave moment of 07 was wrestling Tiger Mask. People apparently are shocked to find out debuting in ROH wasn't his fave of 07, but as he said "You obviously don't know how big a Tiger Mask fan I am".
The book 'Head Games' dealing with head trauma in sports is or will be required reading for Chikara Wrestle Factory.
He discusses in length his love of tags and multi man tags. He says Chikara isn't trying to be a beacon for tag match lovers, but he just feels that certain moves/stories/etc. can only be done in those types of matches.
Apparently Quack finds out about all these people who are Chikara fans through his web of contacts that he wouldn't even expect to know about Chikara. Team WWF came about by One Man Gang chatting it up with an unnamed member of the Chikara roster.
Quack says that many ideas have been thought up for characters, but there's often not enough graduates to do them all.
Larry Sweeney is discussed in length. Sweeney was the only survivor of his class (the 5th class of Chikara), and in Quack's words "Larry Sweeney has been Larry Sweeney since he walked into the Wrestle Factory." Sweeney is the most like his character in real life then anyone in Chikara.
Quack wants KOT 08 to be the most successful weekend in Chikara. Philly is to be Chikara's big stop for 08, but might want to continue testing the waters for places outside of their usual locations. Runs off the usual info about King of Trios that we already know. Apparently the last team and most (maybe all) of the 1st round matches will be revealed by Friday afternoon this week.
