felt i would get a better and more mature response in this part of the board so i'm posting this here...
i have a persuasive speech coming up this week in my speech class and i couldn't think of a topic...and some how came up w/ the idea of making people realize that wrestling is more real than it's made out to be by the avg. person...
now i have some ideas....but i'd like for some help...maybe from some of the people that are actually trained that visit the forum..
any ideas or suggests are greatly appreicated...

It's not real, but there are dangers with it obviously. Learning to take flip bumps once I nearly broke my neck, that wasn't cool. Haha.

If you can, show them a tape of the 60+ chops from Kobashi on Joe or Strong on Dragon or Joe KO'ing KENTA at In Your Face after 1 slap. Can't fake those. Even a pic of their chests afterward would do it too. Whatever you do, I think it'll need visuals to prove your point.

I think a visual aid would definitely do you a huge favor. See if you can get a videowire or clipped version of Joe-Kobashi and explain that this is a testament of how intense wrestling can get, and in the heat of the battle, thus putting physicality into a very real scenario.

I'd suggest getting a clip like SeXXXy Eddy's infamous Tournament of Death blood fountain.. Not a whole lot of ways to fake busting an artery..

Show a clip when Owen Hart broked Steve Austin's neck. That was real, an accident, but real, so that would prove your point I guess.

Such as Owen's thighs should've tucked his heaad from the mat.

Katsuyori Shibata vs. Jun Akiyama - Wrestle-1 8/4/05.
Please update us on the response to the video. It sounds really interesting.

Like people saud, show clips of btoches, chair shots, and other visuals. Also tell them how it would hurt to get powerbombed by a grown man.

Find the vid of Vader in japan popping his eye straight out his socket, of Foley losing his ear in Germany.
Or Sexxxy Eddy, like Obo said. Hell, show her Mondo's weedwacker abs.

Do research on the material used for making the ring to prove that it's not some fluffy padded surface. A good diagram of a wrestling ring will help provide an impressive visual. You can get all scientific with that stuff.

If they think its some large trampoline like surface, show them what the ring is made of. It's defenitly NOT a large trampoline, from my experiences in the ring, defenitly not. Some rings are made completely different than others.

Show the clip of Hayabusa's botched springboard... that'll get your class's attention.

Wrestling rings are usually steel bars that go acros the ring in a + type shape, then usually contain smaller bars going acorss in the 4 segments made by the initial two.
The initial bars that make the + shape have one large spring underneath them at the point they meet, which usually has a wooden board underneath, or cloth, etc. to stop it moving.
On top of the steel support lies roughly 8 wooden boards, depending on the size of the ring. Then above this is usually a layer of foam a couple of inches thick. Above this goes the canvas and thats it.
Hope that helped?
