Just because you organize your movies and **** does not mean you're ocd. Just another "cool" disease that EVERYONE seems to have. Exactly. As someone who has it, and deals with it day in and day out, I can say that at first it's tough to deal with but as I gradually did what the disease caused me to do, it seemed much more manageable. It's nothing to take lightly. It's nothing to joke around about. I was diagnosed with it 6 years ago (I've felt as if I have had it forever) and to this day, the simplest thing sets me off.

I do, its not a really bad case of it though. It manily kicks in when im trying to sleep. When I was a kid I had it really bad, but over time it went away for the most part. Id have to touch everything 4 times with each hand. It was horriable.

I have too many to name. It's really weird. I do a lot of them without noticing, so it's kind of embarrasing when other people notice them.

All of you have OCD? really? come on.. I'm not going to sit and act like it ruins my life. I haven't even been diagnosed because, well, unless it's bothering me, I don't see a reason to spend the time and money to go to the doctor and be told that "yes, you have obsessive compulsive disorder." I don't twist doorknobs 50 times before I open them, I don't have to take the same exact streets every time I go somewhere, I don't have to have things extremely clean at all times, etc... Mine are all smaller things that I can deal with. Examples: - If I do something on the left side of my body, I generally have to do it on the right side as well, or vice versa... Say I scratch my right foot -- I feel a very strong urge to also scratch my left foot. No reason, really. But if I don't do it, I'll sit and think about it for a long time unless I get distracted by something else.
- This one I've gotten over (thankfully), but I used to wash my hands like 20 times per day. It took me awhile to get over this one because this one was actually starting to really cause me a lot of stress and problems in my everyday life. Now I pretty much just wash my hands when I go to the bathroom, before I go to bed, and before I eat.
- I don't like to step on the cracks of floors. Actually, it doesn't even need to be a crack... If I'm walking on a carpeted floor that has a pattern on it like this, I would try not to walk on the gold lines. Don't ask me why. I would just try not to... I wouldn't like, jump over them or anything; but it would kind of bother me if I stepped on them.
That's just a few examples, I have many, many more.

That's just a few examples, I have many, many more. Being a germaphobe is COMPLETELY different from having ocd. You don't like to step on them? Or you go COMPLETELY out of your way and never step on them at all? Those are not ocd's. I'm not picking on you or anything, but it seems like everyone's perception of what the disease actually is is completely skewed. I don't know why people claim to have a disease when they've never been diagnosed. It really isn't a thing to joke about.

Being a germaphobe is COMPLETELY different from having ocd. No it isn't. Being a germaphobe is a form of obsessive compulsive disorder. www.nimh.nih.gov/health/topics/obsessive-compulsive-disorder-ocd/index.shtmlActually, it's specifically listed there. You don't like to step on them? Or you go COMPLETELY out of your way and never step on them at all? I do go out of my way not to step on them. Actually, what I do is change my stride so I don't step on them. I can step on them and not go crazy, but I certainly prefer not to. I'm not picking on you or anything, but it seems like everyone's perception of what the disease actually is is completely skewed. I don't know why people claim to have a disease when they've never been diagnosed. It really isn't a thing to joke about. Yeah, I'm "joking" about it. Seems like a hilarious thing to joke about. (what?...) There are varying forms and severities of obsessive compulsive disorder - just like there are varying forms and severities of EVERY disease/disorder/etc.

I don't like things on an angle, I need to have things straight. I actually do sometimes go out of my way just to make sure something is straight to me.

I haven't got OCD but there are a number of things I do that may be considered slight OCD
- If I tense up a side of my body, I have to do the exact same on the opposite side the exact same number of times - If any food stuff that I don't like is even on a plate that my food is on, I will not eat any of that food, at all - I have to lock all doors and windows downstairs before I go up to bed, and I go down there again in the night to do it once more - when I have a cigarette, it can be in one side of my mouth longer then the other, and I can't blow smoke just one way. That's the weirdest

I don't think I have OCD, but I have to check I've shut my front door properly about 15 times before I can walk away from it. And the slightest thought of "I did shut the door didn't I?" will make me go back and check it. I've been walking to college, got half way there, and had to run back home to make sure I'd shut the door.
I always have shut it the first time round, but I still don't always believe I have. I'd say it's more Paranoia than OCD, because that's pretty much the only thing.

i've never been diagnosed or thought "i have OCD" but whatever label you want to put on it i do have a slight problem in a few related areas, i get obssessive/compulsive about organization and perfection. like for example if i organize files on the computer, or make lists of my stuff i find it incredibly hard not to check and re-check things several times over.
for the most part i can keep it under control tho, i just make sure to physically make notes on things that i feel the urge to go-over a lot. like if i'm making a custom DVD cover on photoshop, i'll write down that i've experimented with text size, i've tried different colors here and there, and i've made all the shadows go in the same direction. stuff like that. then i wont need to go over it again and again.
basically i find the best way for me to deal with my problem is to make sure i remember what i've done already, by writing things down.
whatever my problem is called, it's not really a big problem for me, thankfully.

Mine is quite crippling. I kid, I kid. the only slightly OCD thing I do, which isn't OCD at all, is I don't like to put solid minutes on the microwave. I have to put, like, 1:03, not just 1:00. I don't consider it OCD, just a quirk.
