So, for a good while now, we've been having problems with our new neighbors. They're a couple, roughly our age, but alternatively, they're a domestic nightmare. Since they've moved in, they've been an all night cause of disturbance - yelling, screaming, and beating on one another. We complain to the landlord, he talks to 'em, and apparently, the girl moves out. Things settle down - for about a week. She starts coming over, it escalates to more beatings a few times, and we call the police. They overhear the phone call (it's an old building), and she hides and we look like bungholes when the cops show up.
A week ago, I spoke with the landlord for yet another time over the issue, and he pretty much told me that he's sorry that we, his best tenants in a while, are having such a hard time with the neighbors, but in the interest of not being "petty", he was reluctant to do anything about it. Enter yesterday, after us complying with all his regulations, electricians are knocking on my door at 8:00 with no warning, needing to get in to install industrial fire alarms for some reason. NH law requires a landlord give 24 hours notice before needing to enter a unit for any repairs or maintenance issues.
As such, we went a saw an apartment some friends of ours, and old couple we've known through my parents since forever now, were renting out. This place has everything our current place does not - washer and dryer, a driveway (we currently pay for winter parking), all utilities included in the rent, and the privacy of living in a quiet, residential area instead of right above the center of town, where we are currently. All for only $200 more a month than we're paying now. We swiftly accepted the offer.
That's my rant. I'm happy. If you're not - piss off.

Congrats on getting the new apartment. I'm so glad I moved out of town to the country.

Congrats on getting the new apartment. I'm so glad I moved out of town to the country. Humorously enough, when we first moved out, we moved from the city we're moving to now to a smaller town 3 towns over. However, living in the city, we were on the north end, which is quiet, residential suburbia, whereas, in the small town, we're in the heart of the "town" area, right where any noise is going to be. With this move, we'll be back in the north end of the city.

You guys have neighbors in NH that can hear you? That arent deer?
You should have beaten them with your Jeff Gordon racing helmet.
Ok sterotypes done.
We have kids who play Guitar Hero with a bass on til 3 am, It doenst bother me but my roommate gets up at 5 and the walls are paper thin.
Or in Undergrad I lived in apartment with a nice young family next store, except for the fact her kids were the devil, she lit the apartment on fire, on my birthday none the less, nothing was really damaged, but 2 hours in the freezing cold was not fun.
Not to mention she yelled a lot at the kids...at 6am

I live above this ass that sits and smokes next to his porch door (not allowed to smoke on the porch, thank god, but he has a fan right next to his chair so all of the smoke goes outside and comes straight up into my apartment if I have my patio door open. So I basically can't enjoy fresh air. Lately though we've been punishing him by playing Rock Band all night. He's gotta be cursing the kick drum pedal at this point. Ahh sweet revenge.

Congrats on your new place. My upstairs neighbors make so much freaking noise. They have two small children. Now I completely understand that kids run and jump and constantly make noise. That honestly doesn't bug me. The thing that pisses me off is when it sounds like they are dropping bowling balls on their floor (our ceiling) over and over and over. I can't wait to move out in February when my lease is up.

Congrats on the new place, its gotta be nice to get away from annoying neighbors.
I plan on moving out probably around February with a good friend of mine. The place I live in isn't too bad, but the neighbors can be loud as hell when they scream at their kids, plus living with your mom at the age of 19 is not a big turn on for the ladies.

I made the mistake once of moving into one half of a duplex. Horrible, horrible mistake. I'm so glad I own my own house now. It's quiet if nothing else.

Congrats on moving. I've actually been pretty lucky with my neighbors. The only problems I've had is that every weekend at some point I hear the neighbors next to me having sex. That one I can stand. The other problem is that my neighbor across the hall is a terrible cook, & the fire department has been called twice because she damn near burnt the place down. She swears to me she is done cooking for life.
