that's not the way it works buddy. God put us here on earth. He doesn't force things to happen. He gave us the ability to think for ourselves and look at what has happened.....as a society, we are failing. It's so easy to say "if God were real, this wouldn't be happening to me." Keep in mind, God had to watch his own son be crucified when he could have saved him himself.

I find it hard to believe that he just made earth out of some material he had lying around or whatever. Scientific stuff suits me better, as it is less childish than some of the religious theories. Don't get me wrong, I have my own beliefs, which i won't share, and I'm sure you have your own beliefs. So im not knocking religion, or its people, in any way.. Its just not my thing.

Many have made their points and made them well and I have discussed my views on numerous occasions on this forum. But in the end it simply will always come back to one word for me and those who believe....Faith.

Saw it...was bored, and I'm an atheist. Everyone can believe whatever the hell they want. I don't care. And that, my friends, is TRUE atheism.

you ever seen that South Park episode w/ the sea monkeys? It's kind of like that. he gave us a place live (earth) food (animals) water (lakes/oceans) and intelligence (for the most part). What we chose to do with those gifts are up to us. As a parent, I know I can do everything I can to provide for my children..but once they are set loose, I can't control them. All I can do is that they make good choices in life. Same concept.

But in the end it simply will always come back to one word for me and those who believe....Faith. Exactly. There's no way I can't look at my kids and not know that they are gifts from above. Even when they irritate the crap out of me. I look at my life and all the trials I've had (and there have been many) but I look at what I have now and know that had I given up and lost faith, I'd have nothing. It's hard to explain man.....I was brought up this way but I chose to REALLY explore it all a few years ago.....that's when as an adult I was able to decide what was real to me and what my faith was really all about.

Whilst i respect your beliefs.. I just can't buy into it.
I've had no favours done for me, not that i'm looking for sympathy or handouts, and especially this time of year, Makes me firmly believe life in general serves no purpose.
I don't fear death, and I don't fear anything really. So when i do pass on, I'm sure things will become clearer for me then.
Maybe heaven and hell only exist for those who care to believe in them. I don't know.
What I do know is: it will taking nothing short of a miracle to change my beliefs, and according to the Bible.. there's only one man who can perform them.

Me ! any one ! I am a nice guy, I will go out of my way to help or please someone else. I do nice things and i have never in my life hurt anyone for no reason, or made anyone feel bad etc. Jesus rose the dead healed the sick made blind see model your life after him.He is still innocent of any wrong doing to any one. Are you breathing now? God allows you to breath. However, Lets just say their is a god, and there is a devil, but I spend my life ignorant to both. The only way you can be ignorant on both is cause you chose too.people that live in jungles and never hear about Jesus there entire life.God deals with them differently. But you my friend had a chance and chose not to believe no excuse.Sorry I didnt make the rules.Who makes the sun rise ? Who made the birds fly? Did you chose to be born on earth?Your here face it.If you break the law do you go to jail ? Why should God allow his creation to continue to reject his son Jesus? We are just a vapor in this life.just yesterday i was one years old. When I die.. why should i go to hell? Cause you were warned over and over and over again. You rejected Jesus .Find me one time when Jesus sinned ever ?? you wont ! He is perfect unlike us the world prayed for a savior when he came he was killed .But my friend he rose 3 days later. Its a free gift my friend I dont want to go to hell man !!! neither do i want any one else to go.....Athiest like your self have had near death experiences. They came back they didnt see budha or islamic heaven.Or hindo god. They either ALL had some thing to do with heat, flames and darkness and all turned to Christ .Dont wait untill its too late . you want to learn more? google 23 minutes in hell. "I find it hard to believe that he just made earth out of some material he had lying around or whatever. Scientific stuff suits me better, as it is less childish than some of the religious theories." This is exactly what i mean. I explained to you, and others, that i don't believe in god or religion. And how do you reply? You try to force your beliefs upon me. You tell me what i should and shouldnt believe. You practically tell me that i have to believe in god or i will go to hell. Hell is a place where people are harmed, hurt, slaved etc. So according to you, if i dont believe in god then I will be slowly slaughtered. See... I know not all religious people are like you. I'm sure a lot of them couldnt care less if I'm atheist or not. My best friend is a strong believer in god, and he has at many times mentioned to me that i should believe in god, but at the same time, he knows i will never change, and he accepts that and moves on. He never sits around me telling me what i should and shouldn't believe. Instead of fairy tales about the blind seeing and the deaf hearing and the crippled getting up and walking about, and a piece of bread being made into hundreds of pieces.. I prefer to believe in Evolution, i prefer to believe in logical reasons that are presented by scientists. And whilst i may believe that.. I don't tell you that you should too.

Everyone has their beliefs and I respect that. But I just can't buy into the fact that the Universe was created by a man. In my opinion, thats laughable. A lot of the time, anything associated with Religion is more Fairy Tale than the Easter Bunny. I don't like to get involved with Religion at all, as it causes nothing but problems.

Belief, Religion, Faith, God is not the problem...peoples choices divide us in everything..religion is nothing but another choice that divides us, as is politics...and many other things...the idea that religion is the problem is self is something that most seem to have embedded in their heads due to the choice of select people.

ok enough of what i have to say lets see what the good book has to say.
John 3:15 -That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
John 12:25 - He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
this is just one of many scripture of why many of us will not stop try to spread our belief don't take it as an attack its just something we have to do some times.
1 Timothy 6:12 -Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
Titus 1:2 - In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
Like i said I still dont want to go to Hell.

Try as you might, I just will not change my beliefs.

let me ask you a question, what if there is Hell ?? OK, I'm going to reply to that in a logical way. I am Atheist. I don't believe in God because my life has been **** and therefore i believe that if such a character as "God" existed then he would not allow that to happen. I am a nice guy, I will go out of my way to help or please someone else. I do nice things and i have never in my life hurt anyone for no reason, or made anyone feel bad etc. Surely if "God" existed, I'd be well looked after? Apparently not. However, Lets just say their is a god, and there is a devil, but I spend my life ignorant to both. When I die.. why should i go to hell? I've been a nice man throughout my life. I have never worshipped the devil or made a preference to hell over heaven. Therefore, If Heaven exists in the sense that we are told, I'm sure I'll be on my way there. If "God" behaves as we are told, then he would surely forgive my ignorance as i have never attempted to slay his name in any way. I have never said to anyone "How can you believe in god. God is a rapist, murderous bastard." I have never once gave a dislike to anyone who believes in any religion. I don't care what other people believe. Each to their own. So tell me, If God exists.. does he see fit to slaughter people, or let them spend an 'eternity in hell' purely because they are ignorant to his workings? If God exists, Im sure he would make us all believe in him by performing actions within our lives to strengthen, or create, a belief in him. So far, he has not done that to, or for, me. Surely you see my point? It sounds to me that you're arguing that God doesn't exist just because nothing good has happened to you. It seems to me that you're of the opinion that God owes you something for some reason and that's just not the case. I don't think God owes anyone anything for any reason, but that's my opinion. I personally believe in God because it comforts me. I can't accept a reality where this life is all we have and then it's over.

"Maybe some day i will, but right now its just not happening."
You made me smile brother when i read these words Im glad you still have an open mind and maybe one day you will.Like I said before maybe one day I will go to heaven it's a hope.I really am not 100 percent sure either. For all I know I might die a violent death while robbing a bank and go to Hell.We pray and we hope that God shows mercy on us as sinners.I am truly happy you said Maybe some day.I hope that day comes soon my friend. It's like a man walking off a cliff , I know the cliff is there I have to at least warn him even though he does not want to believe it's there. In a way I was an athiest too untill some one warned me about that cliff. And you know what my friend?Im still walking towards that cliff but hope one day I wont fall off.But at least now I know that cliff is there while millions keep walking off it .Every second and a half 1 person dies and never come back to tell there loved ones what they seen or felt. Some people do have NDE and do come back and tell.I recomend 23 minutes in Hell it's a great movie about a man who seen Hell there is also testimony of every day people that have had NDE.Believe it or not but it is a great movie you can watch it on google video for free just type in 23 minutes in hell. like one of my t shirts say " eternal life without Jesus, can be Hell "

megawarlord, you can't use a fear tactic of "if you don't believe, you're going to hell!" on people. you sound half nuts.
the reason i'm kind of against religion, is because i think it leaves little to no room for real and actual spiritual progress. in my opinion it goes back to the search of happiness, everyone wants to be happy. catholics tell us god will make us happy, so some turn to him. but i think true happiness doesn't come from being reliant on a questionable book, it comes from the self, and you do not need Jesus or God to expand that part of yourself. in my opinion, religion may have at one time allowed and supported spiritual growth but now it is only something that hold's one back from his own growth.

Though I mean nothing by this to you as far as your beliefs but as I live and breathe, I have come to understand that religion and the bible are tools in this life and if used correctly you can understand yourself better and life itself. Though my ideas and such will always conflict with my faith, I still hold true to the teachings of jesus and through it there is much spiritual growth and much to know. But this is merely an opinion of my own, only wishing for you to understand that spiritual growth can happen through religion and not just through spirituality.
