Well, I think the actual term for this is Burgled, but whatever. My friend Steve and I went to hang with our friend Tim last night. He lives a couple towns north of me, so we don't get to see him that much and anytime we he is free to hang out we take it.
We drive up there and head to his house. We park and go inside. After hanging out for a couple hours we get ready to leave only to find that the drivers side window had been busted out of Steve's car. The people that did this got in, stole his MP3 player which was one from his girlfriend, my Zune and all the change in the console.
We called the cops and Tim nearly had to threaten the dispatcher to get her to send someone out. After filing the police report we get in the car and head home, freezing our asses off the whole way home.
His insurance will hopefully replace the stuff, but he has to pay a $500 deductible before they will do anything, which strikes me as stupid considering he has never had to call his insurance company for anything.
I'm sorry for the long post, I just needed to vent a little.

That sucks, But look on the bright side, Atleast none of you guys got hurt or the robbers didn't hotwire the car and take off.

Car break ins happen, and if the cops are anything like they are around here, you can kiss your stuff goodbye, because they won't do dick about it.

Deductibles are very common with insurance.
but think to yourself, which is cheaper, paying the $500 deductible(and risk the insurance going up - yep, there is a good chance it will), or replacing the goods out of pocket.
it sucks, and sorry to hear it happened...

Kids just broke into my friend car and stole her money which she just cashed her paycheck in.

Deductibles are almost universal with insurance. Not having a deductible at all would be very unusually. Also, the technical term for the crime is a larceny. A burglary only happens at a building of some sort (residence, business, shed, garage, etc....).
It's also not surprising on the police response. Here officers don't normally respond at all and a case is made over the phone. There's normally no evidence to collect so it's generally pointless to send an officer to make a report.

My car got robbed once, but in a kind of funny way. We went into Wal-Mart, came back and I saw my third-door window smashed, a huge-ass rock inside the car. A bag full of school project supplies was missing since that's all we had in the car.. I guess they were diciding to do something with their life  |

Thats happened to my friend many times.
Now he just leaves his car unlocked (so they can enter easily), takes his cd player, and puts whatever is unimportant in the trunk....problem solved so far.

For the name, this was hardly a rant... than again, I've got a horrible reputation when it comes to rants.
Anyways, sorry about your luck. It took a second or two to reflect why you were freezing cold.... DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW BUSTED OUT... It's really petty that people would go to such a trouble but such is life.
At least it was replaceable stuff, but I can imagine how frustrating it is to have to pay for sh~t you had no part in losing or destroying.

You'll get your money back if you have insurance but it will be less than what you paid for that was stolen.
break ins are a common thing and not much can be done about it

Well some good news came today, we tracked down a replacement window for next to nothing, it will be put in the car by the end of Sunday night.
As for the other stuff, we are just going to skip the insurance company BS, there is no need for his payments to go up so I could get the stuff replaced. Plus replacing the stolen stuff would be around $100 cheaper than paying the deductible.

I wouldn't have bothered contacting the insurance company in the first place. I've got some cash set aside just for situations like this.

Well at least you can replace what was stolen, it has got to be frustrating knowing that there was nothing you could do about it.
