2 of my birds died this year. one cockatiel and one green parrot (like the pirate ones).
well, my friend was over, and we ussually let the birds out of their cage and fly around. My friend was eating, and we turned on the kitchen light. the night before, it was hot so we turned the ceiling fan on. ussually, its never on, and the birds hangout on it. well, before you know it, BOOM green feathers everywhere and one bird hits the floor. seconds later, BOOM another bird hits the floor feathers flyin. it was too late to stop the fan top realize its on, and the birds were out. well, the parrot survived until the day after, because he was always a strong bird and wouldnt go down without a fight. but the same day of the accident, the cockatiel, which i felt especially bad for because the previous owners sold him to us, along with his sister, and they had accidently clipped part of the birds wing flesh itself while triming his wings, and its always had trouble flying. right around the time of the accident he started flying normal after like 2 years. we sold his sister because we couldnt keep her alone without any other birds. and when the brother died he was in his cage, and put his wing over his head as if he didnt want his sister to know somethings wrong. it really did suck.

No one in my family, thankfully. 2006 was pretty awful, though.
