As stupid as that is, what 10 year-old takes a slab of steak to school?

I suppose I would see it differently if we were talking about a teenager, but the most punishment I would suggest would be a simple "don't do that again" slap on the wrist and maybe a detention.

This is rediculous, arresting a 10-year old for brining a knife to school with the sole purpose of cutting a steak. The only knives at the school were probably those plastic ones that wouldn't have been able to cut the steak. What is the world coming to?

if the same exact thing happened in high school, where a kid has a knife and is using it in the same way, no threats, id understand the situation. but this is a freakin 5th grader! they overreacted to the extreme there. if anything, the should just have a teacher supervise close to the girls table. on another note, what girl brings steak for lunch?

Exactly!!! This isnt the first time and wont be the last. Common sense says that if its happened before then it can happen again. What i wanna know is who the hell would eat a cold piece of steak? most school have microwaves, her parents probably cooked it the night before and put it in the fridge so all she'd have to do is re-heat it if thats the case, (we have microwaves at my school) id be ore worried about kids putting stupid stuff in the microwave! hell last year we put empty bags of chips in the microwave and made keychains! (i reccomend trying it, its fun as hell, and harmless lol just make sure the bag is wrinkle free)
