I have a custom built computer, got it for Christmas in 2004, and it's pretty much run it's course. It's died on me twice and had to have several parts replaced.
I'm getting either a Sony or Dell XPS laptop when I leave for college.
As far as specs go,
3.2ghz AMD
1 gig of RAM
320 gig hard drive
Has a nice graphics card too, though I'm not entirely sure what it is, I'm not into that stuff.

A Mac OSX, the actual breakdown would be something like a 10.4.1. an eMac and a rather trouble free one, sans not being able to download any movies for whatever reason.

home-built PC, running Windows XP. I had Vista since launch but had enough about 2 months ago... I switched back to XP and haven't been happier

Dell desktop. Windows XP. I had to replace the hard drive and memory cards recently but its been running perfect ever since.

I use the Windows operating system on 3 of the 4 computers in my house. The other one uses Mac OSx.
