As some of you might have noticed, I have not posted here in awhile. There is a very good, solid reason for that.
On December 21st, I had a stroke. Yes, I had a stroke at the age of 30. It was minor, and I was fortunate in that it did not affect me as badly as it would someone the age of our grandparents, but I am still recovering and I am now on thirteen drugs a day. The cause of this was my blood pressure was running 220+ over 110+ for extended periods of time. This was mostly due to stress and whatnot, but all the same, this is what happened and I did not get out of the hospital until the Friday following Christmas. Yeah, I spent Christmas in the hospital. w00!
Oh, but it gets better.
While I was in the hospital, I was the recipient of a full on physical with no expense spared, because they wanted to see what all contributed to the stroke. Now, I had been experiencing this other problem that I had neglected to see a doctor about for months. Well, of course this was checked out as well. I'll skip ahead to yesterday to what I was told.
I've been diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer, of an aggressive nature.
I've been told that I have a life expectancy of 18 to 24 months.
Did I mention I am 30?
Look, guys, I'm not posting this in search of a pity party, please do not get me wrong. Anything could happen in the next year and a half to two years. I could get hit by a bus tomorrow. No, the point of this is to tell you that you should never, ever assume you have all the time in the world. You never know what Fate has planned around the corner for you. Don't sit around waiting for life to happen, my friends. You've got to reach out, grab onto it with both hands and hang on for all you're worth. Don't put anything off for tomorrow. Be a smarter person than I was and for the love of God, do not take anything for granted.
That's all, guys. That's everything I've got to say.
