... Using your credit card and never getting caught? I mean, surely there is some way they can get caught easily? What do they do like just set up a paypal account and spend the money through that? Or am i way off? I mean, if you set up Paypal, don't they keep your I.P address to see where you are? I ask because I use a site called "Gumtree" and they are like an eBay type site and there are always stories of people getting ripped off by giving away their credit card details. I know that you can cancel your credit card and all that, but what can someone actually do with your details without being caught? If they buy stuff off eBay, when you're trying to find out who did it, wouldn't the seller whose name appears ont he bill have the scammer's address (as the shipping address)

Yeah, but thats what im talking about. I mean.. if i got someones credit card and made a new paypal account with all of their information, wouldn't paypal have saved my I.P. Address for future reference? So when the people contact their bank about their card getting stole.. won't their bank be able to see if the card was connected to paypal, and then get the I.P address it was used in conunction with?

So when the people contact their bank about their card getting stole.. won't their bank be able to see if the card was connected to paypal, and then get the I.P address it was used in conunction with? Yes, the IP can be traced. However in most cases, they are at a coffee shop using the free WiFi, or they go to a Library and do their dirty work using public accessed ip's. The most that could be traced in this situation is the ip and where that ip was at that particular time. Keep in mind ip addresses are dynamic and change periodically. You might keep one ip for 6 months and sometimes you might change ip's every time you log in. So in turn, if traced, it would come back to this ip was being used at such and such coffee shop on certain given date, tracking after that would be minimal depending on circumstances. As far as Mail Scammers go, such as the ones that send you a check for 4000, when the ammount was supposed to be $400, they tell you to keep 400 plus another 100-200 for your troubles, and mail the cash back to them. They want it either western union or ups, both of which are untrackable. Western Union can be claimed at any western union location. So say you wanted to send a wire to Fred in New York, Fred is your scammer, well he lives in Oregon, so he gets that account # or whatever it is and goes to his local western union and gets his money, all he has to do is verify who it came from. With UPS you can have it sent from Texas to Pennsylvania, and once it his tracking coming out of Dallas, scammer takes the tracking # and requests it to be rerouted to a pick up location and picks it up when it arrives. On these, with the fake checks they send you, they look like real checks from a business or somewhere, bank will cash it for you, but in about 3-7 days, you'll get a call from your bank saying you owe them $4000 plus a hot check fee. You are out $3500 and the scammer gets the money without a trace.

I don't think theirs a perfect answer, honestly.
Watch Bad Santa, really, the guy grabs a couple different sets of keys. All which have electric lock. He finds which he wants, pops the glove compartment, and find the registration. More importantly the house keys are on the car. So this guy has all he needs and more for a quick heist.
The world is scam city, there's really no way of safe-guarding yourself from it.

Bend the credit card into pieces and throw it in the bin or shredder. Credit Card is Bad for you use Debit Card or so. You say banana, I say bandana. So what makes Debit christly, and Credit the devil's payment plan? While we're at it, what's the difference between a topic and thread? Is it what's discussed or what you call the discussion?

Bend the credit card into pieces and throw it in the bin or shredder. Credit Card is Bad for you use Debit Card or so. Actually, it's the complete opposite. Think of this: If someone gets your credit card info, they spend all the money, and then you have to get t all sorted out with the credit card company. But they're not spending your money, they're spending the credit card company's money. Thus, the credit card company might actually try and help you, as they want their money. However, if you use a debit card, which is directly connected to your bank account, if someone gets hold of that information, they can easily wipe out your bank account, and no one will do anything about it.
