Apparently the FBI is re-opening the 1971 D.B. Cooper hijacking case. For the young pups on this board who don't know anything about unsolved crimes it's one of the most famous ones of all time. In 1971, a man purchased a plane ticket w/cash under the name D.B. Cooper. While onboard he showed a stewardess what he claimed was a bomb inside a briefcase and handed her a note for the pilot. Once the plane landed, he traded the passengers for a pair of parachutes and a couple hundred thousand dollars (really big money 30 yrs ago). He then ordered the plane to take off and jumped from the airplane somewhere between Reno and Seattle. He took with him the money, note, briefcase and jumped in just loafers and a business suit. Neither he nor the lion's share of the money ever turned up. The FBI at the time was not even able to establish who he was or where he came from. It's a very interesting case. news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080101/ap_on_re_us/looking_for_cooper

I do find it funny they are gonna open a case almost 40 years old for only 30k. Thats pocket change now days, just let the guy go

wasn't this guy Westmoreland on Prison Break? and the Prison Break guys upped it to 5 million if i remember right. i don't see the point of them reopening a case this old unless they have substantial evidence and reason too which after 30 years surely isn't possible.

I would love it if the Prison Break story were remotely true.

In the article it says he got away with 200K.
Anyways, I think the movie Without A Paddle incorporates him somehow, I haven't seen it in awhile though.

If you go to fbi.gov it's got some pics of his tie and the money he recovered. Don't have time now to post the direct link. Maybe a little later.
