WTF....The guy is 19 years old he's at a legal age to drink and doesnt need his mother to tell him what to do...Some people in this world are almost certainly intellectually- disabled.

The legal drinking age is 21 in the US.

19 year olds here in the US drive enough like pricks anyways, the last thing we need is to tell them it's okay and make it easy for them to swing by the Circle K on the way home from their junior college pottery class and get some Wild Turkey.

That's just depressing. Selling a kid's car? This is the worst news all day.

Are you guys joking? Its one thing if the kid got a B on a test and she took it away, but the kid is underage and they found alcohol. Thats illegal. Im surprised she didnt send her son to military school, the kid should be thankful for what she did. But of course, she is a Skank Bitch because she doesnt want her son to kill someone, or himself, drunk driving. What is wrong with you s? i don't think you can "send" a 19 year old to military school. i'd call straight out selling the car an over-reaction & the newspaper ad wording makes is seem pretty childish imo. it's pretty hard to learn to drive drunk unless you get some practice, i think the kid was just being responsible & getting some light-buzzed practice in....then he gets punished for it. it's a shame.

Would have sent a better message if she threw a match in the gas tank. But then she'd be out $3700.

So they are able to drive a car...but not able to drink? Wow for the USA laws In Iowa you can start driving at 14, not drink till 21, so that's an 8 year difference. BTW, the lady is a radio DJ in the city where my boss lives (we have 2 diff. offices), so she probably just did it for something to talk about on the radio.

Ok so he's 19. Legally an adult. She would not be able to sell the car unless she owned or co-owned it. This means that it would be on HER insurance and make her partially responsible so she had every right to do what she did. Now since that is out of the way...
GOOD FOR HER! Finally a parent who has a set of balls to do the right thing and teach her son a valuable lesson and quite possibly save his like and someone else's life as well. When her son actually becomes a real adult he'll thank her someday. And now he can go get a car in his own name and with his own money too.

The woman's huge.
And some moms kill all their kids, so she's pretty far from being the meanest mom.

This means that it would be on HER insurance and make her partially responsible so she had every right to do what she did. yeah, all adolesecent grudges aside, i was going to bring this up. which does make it right, more or less. if, for instance, her son busted his ass to make the money to buy a car, then yeah, the bitch should rot. but i guess thats not the case. its just a farfetched story to me, i guess given my upbringing. i mean, i could see if he was 16 or 17, but 19? hey, doesnt make it right (or wrong, for that matter), but im 19, drink with my relatives at get togethers and such, and my mom bought me my fake ID, sooo thats the main reason i love coming to message boards, because you encounter people of all walks of life, and are bound to stumble upon just about any and every stance or belief you can think of, because someone out there probably abides by such. i happen to come from an environment that's more relaxed towards alcohol, being exposed to others who may not have been. diversity yeah!
