Just read on Yahoo that Bobby Fisher passed away at the young age of 64. I'm kind of sad to see him go. The man was an absolutely brilliant chess player. He incorporated both the prophylactic stylings of Petrosians and the creative attacking style of champions like Tal. He was easily the greatest American chess player to ever push a pawn across the board and arguably the greatest chess player of all time. In his time he was simply dominating and walked away while in the prime of his career and at his peak. Very interesting and very eccentric guy. news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080118/ap_on_re_eu/obit_fischer

I guess Lawrence Fishburn can stop looking for him.
Anyway, yeah, the guy was brilliant, and like most brilliant minds, a weirdo.

Fischer was no American hero. After departing the US in the 80's Fischer became very outspoken against the US. At one point, he actually thanked Osama Bin Laden for 9/11.
