Ok, I had an ingrown nail on my big toe about two months ago. I was able to rip the side of the nail off. A day or two later, it seemed to be healed. But eventually, the side of my toe started getting sore whenever I touched it or put pressure on it. There was no more swelling, but it was sore on the entire right hand side of my toe.
I figured it'd go away, because I basically cut and ripped the whole side/corner of my nail off.
Well just recently, it started bleeding and swelling up again.
I thought I had it all removed, but what I'm thinking is that their might be a piece of nail still in my skin?
I don't know, I'm stupid when it comes to this and I need to get it treated before it gets worse. What could be wrong?

What could be wrong...The nail could still be in there...Even though you aren't seeing it, a nail goes waaay under the skin.
The most important thing to do right now is get an appointment with a pediatrist as well as soak your toe in salt water!!...
I've had my two big toes done 5 times I think. both sides of the toes and then once again on a side I already had gotten done. My toes no longer bother me!!
Get your toes checked out!!!!!...And don't be afraid of the pain you go through to get this pain fixed, in the end, it is all gooood!

It's probably a dead nail. You might need to get it pulled out so it can grow back in.

Get them checked out and all will be fine. If they have to the doctor will numb your toe and cut the nail out, but don't worry even once the numbing stuff wears off it won't hurt.
I've had it done to each of my toes twice, its no big deal just get it checked out.

Wow, what an odd topic. I've had this happen to me on both feet. One is still there, and I just need to trim the nail precisely, and it won't hurt. The other is a different story. I had to have the other one cut open (at the toe), and, after freezing spray and a numbing shot (Which was the worst pain I've ever experienced in my life, I called the doctor a mother er.), they pierced through my toe, filled it with medicine, and literally ripped half the nail out. So, it really all depends. I would definetly just go get it checked out. Even in worst case scenario, it's not like you're gonna have too much crapto deal with.

I'm gonna go against the grain and say it's cancer of the toe and that you should make amends with all of your loved ones and enemies.

Its painful to pull it out, they numb ur toe up and its a lot of bleeding, but its very common. I've had it done a few times.

i think if you cut out a v shape in your toe every now and then that prevents it from happening again.

I had a couple of months back. DON'T just leave it and think it will get better because it won't. It will start to smell if it becomes infected, so soak it in warm salty water every day until you can get it treated. The process at the hospital takes about 20 minutes, they inject your toe to numb it and then they take the toe out. It sounds worse than it is. Get it looked at, srsly. ;[ ewwww

I've had problems with ingrown nails for a long time now. I let it go really badly once, and I couldn't walk.
How they got mine out is they soaked my foot in hot water to make the skin lose and what not, and then put in an injection to make my toe numb and they cut it out from there. As Ralpho said, it's messy, but you'll feel so much better afterwards.

Go to the doctor as soon as possible to get the toe nail removed. I had an ingrown toe nail and I'm glad I got it removed. Even though I had to get my toe frozen in three places, which hurt like a b*tch.

I actually JUST had one removed about 30 mins ago at the doctor. It hurt like a bitch because they removed the nail and put acid on the route of the nail which stops it from growing back. Ill post pics later.
