Well what is your purpose for the computer. You get it down to two simple options:
Mac- more advanced and in-depth multimedia functionality
Windows- all rounder more simplified average computer that is rather versatile
I say depending on your use choose the most fitting one. That in mind, most people who have had a Mac say they are much better machines in most circumstances anyway. But Macs are more expensive. You pay for the functionality.

mac. I used Windows my whole life up until this semester when I bought a mac, and now I will never switch back. Mac is 1000000x easier, don't have to worry about viruses, and you can do anything that you can do on Windows now, so there is really no reason not to choose a mac other than the fact that they are more expensive (and rightfully so)

It completely depends on what you want to do with your computer and which one you're more comfortable with. If you're just using it for internet, music, and other standard things; then you're probably fine with using a PC. But if you're doing a lot of design, music, video, etc.; then you probably want to use a Mac.

Macbook Pro. I bought one for college and I will NEVER go back to using Windows again. And if you really want Windows that bad, you can download it and switch from Mac to Windows whenever you want. I dont see a point in doing that, but my friend does it. or get the new Macbook Air. I second this. I use a macbook pro at work and I never want to get another windows again. I still use one at home, but I hate it. Trust me spend the extra money and get a mac. Way less problems then windows and way easier to use. If you're used to windows it takes a bit getting used to because things are just laid out a bit differently, but in less than a week you'll be sold.

I've always been interested in Linux, but not a lot seems to be compatible, program-wise, so I'm always feeling "eh" about it.

Is it tough making designs and stuff on Mac? What programs are already installed when you first buy it? I need a new computer and I'm thinking about getting a Mac. (preferably a laptop)

They do treat Mac's as a lifestyle, and in reality it is...If you are an altertnative lib..YOU OWN A MAC!!!! It's like a take of Jeff Foxworthy's "You Know You're A Redneck", but instead its "You Own A Mac if.."You are into poetry bars...You own a Mac. If you are gay; You own a Mac.....ETC!!! GO MADDOX!!!! (preferably a laptop) It doesn't really matter which operating system you have for designing. They make Adobe CS for Windows and Mac. That being said, most designers use macs, so there must be a reason behind that. Not much comes on the computer when you first buy it except for things like Preview, Calander, Mail, iMovie, iTunes, Garage Band, etc. If you want to do design stuff, you're just going to have to shell out the big bucks for the programs. Mr. Vizio, are you wcw24 by any chance?

People who bitch about Maddox are afraid of others who have opinions; because more than likely those opinions are facts!

People who bitch about Maddox are afraid of others who have opinions; because more than likely those opinions are facts! I've read Maddox a couple times(years ago mind you) and once he claimed that the invention of the iPod by placing a hardrive in an mp3 player was hardly earth shattering and anybody could do it...well why didn't he? Where are his millions upon millions of dollars? Maddox is just some 30 something that hides behind a computer because if he ever had a radio or television show, everybody would realize what kind of loser the guy is. He is a tool and so are you.

Hes not arguing the fact that he should've thought of it, but the fact that Mac is making millions of dollars off of a souped up mp3 player with a HARD DRIVE! And they are making millions off of the letter "i" by putting it infront of every word, because they can't think of any names for their products on their own. So in reality you are the tool for following the Mac hype of the minute (my-nute) masses!
