instead of spending it, everyone should just save it that's not what the rebate is for...they want you to spend the money and put it back into the economy to regenerate it in order to prevent a recession.

Yeah this is just going to put us further in debt, which will drive down the American dollar, hurting the economy even more.
This looked at as a quick fix, but a lot of people can't even pay their bills right now and have debt of their own, so that money will not be stimulating economy.
It is estimated this will add to our deficit $100 to $120 billion, on top of a budget plan which the president is guaranteed to slash more programs costing us more money to make up the difference.
That isn't the worst of it, WE are still in a time of war not making sacrifices(with the exception of the soldiers and families of them)which cost our nation Billions of dollars every year, making this stimulus plan even more precarious.
This is really bad, I hope it doesn't pass, but many can't seem to look beyond getting a check in the mail.

This is quite possibly the dumbest idea I've heard of in a long time and it's a blatant vote buying scheme for both parties. The fact of the matter is we're not in a recession or heading for one. The Fed Chairman has gone on the record as saying that. The growth of our economy is slowing, but not to the point of going backwards. (A recession is defined as two quarters of negative growth). So a recession it's not, but they're passing out checks just because it's an election year.
To make matters even stupider, the ammount of the checks is a joke. $600 is not life changing money for a single person and $1200 is not life changing money for a married couple. To pretend it is is preposterous. Factor in that we're going to run out and borrow the money from China or some place and it makes it even more ridiculous.
All that being said, if someone is gonna give me a $600 check I'll take it and bank it.

From all the experts I have watched. This will not help. It will not hurt either. I could give a sh*t less.

I was under the impression I was going to be getting $300, but $600 is even better.

When I first heard about this, my reaction was that this was actually going to make the situation WORSE. I will probably save mine and use it as part of loan payments when I graduate college, provided I even get one.
