So, I'm looking to become a skateboarder. Now, I have the people to teach me, I just need a board. Does anyone know where I could get a good, not to high price, and good, quality board? I live in NJ. And is there any good way to convince my mom to let me get one? She really doesn't want to let me get one, Advice?

You could ask your friends where to buy one, but I reccomened for a beginner a Blank deck (no graphic makes it $30 cheaper). I do not skate, but I used to.

What are the usual prices? My friends told me they would teach me, but gave me no real details.

Internet, or if you have a Zumiez near you, you can get a no graphic good deck for $30
I wish I could skate. I can't do any tricks. Im too fat and uncoordinated. I could just ride though, but I don't have the balance to do an ollie.

www.blackholeboards.comi've been ordering from the for years, very trustworthy/reliable. deck's go for around $60, completes are usually $150-$160 if you get more of the higher priced stuff (bones bearings/etc.) bones swiss bearings are way worth it tho, only bearings i ever ride. but to start out, i reccoment cheaper kind, because bones are known for going faster.

I got a nice Element deck at a local skateshop for $60, but with trucks and wheels and stuff your better off to buy one complete online at CCS or so. . .
Go to CCS.com and subscribe to their free catalog and then show your mom. They have a bunch of great stuff and prices in there.

CCS.com? Or your local skate shop..Try to go with something decent but cheap..No need to get something fancy on your first board..

Dont bother started of with the most expensive board becuase it wont be easier to learn on. You should start off with a cheap one as you wont exactly be smashing the out of it as your a beginner. Anyway im not sure about skate shops in america but I know a good online one in England
