All due respect to Jack, as I have nothing but love for this place as a whole, and he's hardly a dictator... (which is ironically off topic with what I'm getting at, but what else would you expect from my posts)
Saving the drama, I'll jump right into it!
Why upgrade, only to downgrade... again? Once again, causing us to lost posts that can't be brought back even if dorthy and toto were here to do it?
I mean, with out coming off self-righteous, the board once against looked great. A lot of simple additions that made this board some thing more, and yet no explanation to why the upgrade was dropped, just an obvious effect after doing so.
I don't expect an answer, I just didn't see a non-staff issue with the upgrade, and it seems like for the second time in 2 months, we've been given more warning as to an update (this time there wasn't any to my recollection), with very little if any encouragement that issues could occure leading to posts being teleported into a galaxy far, far away.
Maybe it's the former rper in me that thinks, "those WFWF guys oughta be pissed, they lost all their sh~t"... or it could be the fact I maintain to much time here, and really don't consider my posts as any thing worth saying twice, or not worth saying at all.
I guess this is the rant that was coming, but never fully reached it's pinnacle when I've had every chance to go off on a tangent in the last 10 days.
I apologize if any brain cells were terminally loss in reading this post, it had to be said... why make the same judgement call twice without warning of it coming. (the detracted posts)

The upgraded slowed down the forum - ALOT. Jack just downgraded it since WF is so active it can't upgrade.

Even before they downgraded again, I was like, "Watch them get rid of the upgrade, and dock our posts again."

The upgraded slowed down the forum - ALOT. Jack just downgraded it since WF is so active it can't upgrade. Acceptable, the site was running slow... but hasn't this procedure already been done? |

We didnt choose the upgrade. Proboards automatically did it. The upgrade isnt slow. Its the bugs within it. Jack doesnt want to be upgraded until the bugs are worked out due to the size of forum. |

I'm not trying to antaganonize, I just think it sucks that we (and I use the term lightly), the upgrade... only to hit the kill switch and sacrifice a couple hundred posts. Seems like it could have been avoidable, I'm the least frustrated person out of this, but it'd be unfair to sit quite knowing not all cooler heads are prevailing right now. |

The board was downgraded like 4 hours after the original upgrade, seriously, how many posts could you have lost?
Seriously, the banter board? Are we really worried about posts there?
If you guys do your RPG stuff or whatever, SAVE IT IN MS WORD because this isnt the first time to have it happen. Jack and Proboards is just doing this to give us a better site and some of you are complaining? Its evolution people, deal with it and backup your stories.

So will this happen again, or is it a done deal? I don't care if the upgrade ever happens, but it does kill activity when the board goes down, up and than down and up again in the manner that it did. I'm not breaking ground here, it may be february, but I'm not MLK. I just see logical scrutinizing the downgrade so soon after, almost knowing the effects. It's not bringing me down. I'm just looking for, and ultimately getting, some clarity. |

From what I understand the board will not attempt an upgrade until v5 comes out for Proboards, as that is supposed to have fixes for all the crap that's come up in the 4.5 upgrade that we've tried twice. |
