Riiight. Makes sense I guess. So L is just for Running Attacks/Grapples?
Oh yeah, things I love about Fire Pro: The ability for Hayabusa to deliver 5 Falcon Arrows, 3 High Angle Brainbusters and a Standing Moonsault for a False Finish, yet a Single Powerslam put you away immediately after a Falcon Arrow. Yes, I held Down + A.
level 1 cpu as well.
It's called you had low spirit, and sadly a powerslam probably had a high enough power rating to put you down.
Yeah, a Taunt would probably have helped. Meh.
It's really annoying to figure out most of the stuff when you've got a legitimate copy of the Japanese game. <_<
My cookies haven't updated... It says Fire Pro Returns thread, not Fire Pro Wrestling as it says in the Re: bit. Meh.
Anyway, FPA is giving me grief. How do you reverse the Strikes and Grapples? The Gamefaqs don't have most of it - I saved them a while ago.
Grapples: Win the timing.

I love Fire Pro but I HATE how a match can finish when someone applies a ****ty submission or just punches you to the ground.
Do you even WATCH Japanese wrestling?
Yes, I do.
I don't mean a Misawa forearm or a Stretch Plum.
I mean like someone doing a weak grapple which knocks you down then scoring a victory or applying a sleeper after not working on your head at all during the match and then gaining a victory.
Ski mask? Check! Sawed off? Check! Guilty conscience, fear of death? Check check check!

People lose to sleepers without having their necks worked on...

Yeah but not in like 2 seconds.

No, I've been going back-and-forth finisher for finisher with guys like Danielson, Joe, Super Dragon, or Nigel, and all of a sudden a ing half crab is locked in and that's it. It's a common problem in FPR, we talk about it all the time on the FPC board. If you are after 25 minutes, any submission will end it.

Yep, that's what I'm saying.
It's a bit gay, really.

Yea, they are. I've been waiting for over 3 ing weeks.
Thanks a lot, man. I'm in the same boat as you, I was just wondering if it was only me or not.
I actually cancelled my Play-Asia, and ordered from JapanVideoGames.com. I called the number they have afte rit not shipping for 4 days, since they gurantee it being done in 3. So, this guy tells me he has no stock of it, and doesn't know if he'll be getting any. ICONS, I need a copy as soon as possible!

That's funny. I ordered my stuff around the 28th/29th of December, and recieved it last Friday (the 5th). Not bad at all considering New Year, and I live in the U.K.

I called the JapanVideoGames.com number, and that guy checked the info. He told me that the package (which is the new shipment of my game) was disrupted in a storm and has been re-routed to get to him on Monday. I paid for overnight shipping, so I should have it Tuesday. I swear to god, if he is giving me the run around, I'm gonna find him and in choke him out.
WOW, the match I just had reminded me why I love this game.
Davey Richards (me) Vs. Scorpio Sky in what I thought would be a quick little match just to see if one new move I gave to Richards would work. I'd figure I'd let it go like 15 minutes maybe and then stop breaking my own pins and end it.
Well, I was wrong. A pretty even match-up, Sky starts to get some offense near the end but I just go all out and hit him with the Go 2 Sleep followed by the double-arm brainbuster at like 17 something, thinking that's it. But Sky KICKED OUT, which is insane, as those are probably my two strongest moves (at least I thought). After this, I knew things were gonna go crazy.
I start throwing everything possible at him, and he kicked out of it:
Tiger Suplex (two of them)- KICKED OUT ANOTHER Go 2 Sleep- KICKED OUT Powerslam- KICKED OUT Shooting Star Press- KICKED OUT Cripple Crossface- BROKEN OUT Fujiwara Armbar- BROKEN OUT Yakuza Kick- KICKED OUT
At this point, I'm trying to set him up for a corner move because I know I'm bound to have something just insane. Three times, I throw him into the corner, go to grapple, he counters with a big move, I kick out at 2, then 2.9.
The third time, I throw him in, and I get the grapple off (big corner grapples are usually 2 commands, this one was). I place him up on the top rope backwards, I'm thinking for a super back suplex. I get up, and enter the second button command, and it works. I GRAB HIS ARMS FOR A TIGER SUPLEX. I'm thinking, there's no ing way he's going to do this (some of the moves in the corner are just insane, a super tiger suplex being one) but, HE DOES IT. Top rope ing neck breaking Tiger Suplex at 27:41 was more than Scorpio Sky could handle. One of the BEST singles matches I've ever had in FPR, right up there with my Danielson/McGuinness match and Super Dragon/Quicksilver III.
The second after you have a match like this you know FPR is one of the best games EVER. I've never paused a game and just been like laughing and saying holy craplike I do with this game, it's like a real match. A **** match.
You have to look at it like this: you can keep it on a tough difficulty and try hard to win, ocassionally getting a match that might end good, but usually a match that's just going to end with one big move or something. Because when you do this, you are almost assuming wrestling is 100% real, by putting all of your effort in to WIN the match not caring about how good the match is. Plus, most of them are going to be sub 20 minutes.
Or, you can get it on a difficulty where you can still lose, but it is easier to get off moves. Therefore, you can break up your own pinfalls to put on great near-fall sequences and great ending situations. it's more fun for me like that, but if you want to play to win, just raise the difficulty.
Keep in mind, I play on a level 5 of 10, with 6-7 being hard to win. Don't think this game is easy because I'm breaking my own pins. When you start playing, you wouldn't even get a move off on level 10.
