Title Match Pro Wrestling 1987 & 1989
Format
Atari 2600 (1987)
Atari 7800 (1989)
I am going to do this in 2 sections first up is the 2600 version. I have wanted to do this review for ages but I had to wait get this 5 weeks for my 2600 game from some douche on ebay.
ATARI 2600
As some one who had a Atari 2600 as a kid I can tell you before I had my NES it was the s**t. Now some of you may not know this but the 2600 had buttons on the machine other than the usual power and reset they had buttons that you needed for certain game. I always thought this was a pain in the ass. So I do not think you will be able to play this via emulation which is no a bad thing. There is a big rumor about this game that the guy who made it was inspired by Hogan vs Andre at WM3.
First off the game has that 2600 look about it and considering what we had at the time it looks ok. I am sure to you youngster that the game looks a ing mess lol. but try your best to think that this was pre NES. The animation was pretty decent to be honest and there was no delay that some 2600 games had.
Now the game play even for its time is horrible all the moves are done by one button some half the time you don't even know what the hell you are doing. You have 4 wrestlers who all understandably all play the same. One cool thing was that it was just not singles but tag matches as well so while the idea was good the execution was not. All the matches are 2 out of 3 falls and the game just drags. If some of you get your hands on this game I would love to know what you think of the gameplay. I can not even us the excuse that oh its a old game and a first try cause it still sucks. Only pick this up if its about £1 I paid £4.75 including postage and that was to much.

ATARI 7800
Well first off the 7800 controller had 2 buttons which is something many developers did not make use of. this game however did. SO at least now it was kind of easier to do different moves. I want to add the box flat out lies it tells you that you can do all these moves but none of them look like what they are supposed to be. The whole game is the exact same idea as the 2600 version.
Graphics are excellent all the wrestlers (still a choice of 4) look great as does the arena. Its just I do not know how the animation looks no better than the 2600 version. If I am being fair the whole presentation of the game is pretty damn nice. As I said before it was rumored that the guy who made this game was inspired by WMIII. I do not know if that was tru or not but teh attention that he gave the overall look of the arena and the wrestlers shows he must have been a fan.
My main gripe with this game is that it does not really feel like a wrestling game. Its hard to explain you really need to play it for your self to see what I mean. Fair enough they put wrestling moves in the game but whats the point when a body slam does as much damage to you as it does your opponent. Yep you got that right a wrestling move hurts you nearly as much as it hurts your opponent meaning the only real way to win is just to punch and kick your way to victory. A very poor game what sucks is no attempt was made to at least make it a tiny bit better than the 2600 version. There are only 2 things that make it any better and they are the use of the extra button and the impressive presentation.
