I felt like firing up my PS2 to see if it worked after a major botch (and repair) job I did on it, and to my surprise it worked.
I fired up SYM to have a quick kick around, then decided to play SVR06 to see how different it was to 07.
The difference was quite big.
The matches are more strategic and last waay longer than SVr07 (svr07's match lengths are a joke). First I did A cage with Dibiase and davey boy (in the legend cage of course) and it went on for about 15 minutes, mainly because I was re-adjusting to the old controls and trying to find irish whip.
The AI is amazing. I was getting my ass kicked, I would of lost if the AI knew how to get up the cage quicker. Their offense is great, reversing is all there.
Next match I had was Jericho (me) v Batista. I thought this'd be a walk in the park because I can easily beat anyone in svr07. Boy was I wrong, a tough singles indeed. Batista had me on orange before I even got him yellow. The stamina system is there, but doesn't show until you're really tired out. Later in the match the conditioning of the superstars really showed, we were both getting tired out, it was like tv. I hit the walls of Jericho and made the bastard tap out.
In svr07, to make the match long enough to be interesting, I have to 'play' with the opponent. I can 'REDIFY' an enemy in 2 minute, no joke. But 06 provided a pleasant challenge, which surprised me.
Fire up your 06, and see the difference

I loved the way the whole stamina system worked in that game. I had one of my best ever matches in that game. It was Edge (me) vs. Chris Benoit (cpu) in GM Mode, and the match just went great. The AI in that game was good. The ending had to be the best, though. Benoit went for a Headbutt, but I reversed it, and went for a Spear. Problem was I hadn't checked my stamina, and after I hit the Spear we both got up and went down for the 10 count. It was one of the only times that had ever happened to me, too. Looking back on it, that was a great game. Maybe it was because the original SmackDown! vs. RAW sucked, or maybe it's because Paul London was in it--either way, the game was awesome.

This was a very good game, definitely the best of the Smackdown vs. RAWs so far. I just got sick of it because you'll see the same reversal animations about fifty times in a ten minute match. Needless to say, matches could get very monotonous.

I didn't even bother getting 07' just for the simple fact that 06' was great and the roster changes weren't much.

06 is probably the best since HCTP, and honestly, I think SVR 06 may pass HCTP, that game was great, don't know why I shat on it as much as I did.

Really. The only reason it was good was because it was the first WWE (WWF at the time) game on the PS2.

watch, when '08 comes out everyone will be like "oh yeah '07 owned so much best since hctp!!11"even though everyone is saying it's horrible right now.'06 i loved. SVR not as much,HCTP was good,as was SYM. '06 is my favorite of the series but just for the online. i could care less for the whole smackdown! series nowadays if it weren't for the online mode found in '06 and '07. i can't even remember the last time i had an offline match.

HCTP is easily the best. Unfortunately, it was in the wrong place at the wrong time. December 22 2005, PS2 Breaks with HCTP in it. Nothing wrong with the disk, the actual console at fault. December 23, i get a new PS2 to replace the old one after being told its beyond repair. forgetting about HCTP, it is probably long gone because i forgot about it and never got it back. best since then is 06

I liked 06. Personally, I think it was better than HCTP. I re bought HCTP recently, and to be completely honest..it sucks.

I thought the same about HCTP when I first starting playing it again, yesterday. After a while ago, I rediscovered why I loved it so much--it really is an awesome game.

Why do you guys like HCTP so much more then SYM or any other game? Not the Backstage areas because SYM has them aswell..
The only good things were season (Which IMO SYM had a better season) and new match types.
