(We find ourselves in a large training complex. A wrestling ring is set up in the centre of the room, and all around are various pieces of training equipment, such as a treadmill, punching bag et cetera. We find ourselves watching a few upcoming wrestlers running the ropes in the ring, exchanging holds and learning the basics. Outside the ring stands a familiar face; “Total Apocalypse” Mikael West. He is clearly coaching the individuals in the squared circle, shouting encouragement and giving the wrestlers pointers on how to improve. As the training continues, a young attractive woman appears, walking towards West with an envelope in her hand.)
Woman: Mikael, you’ve got a letter from WFWF.
West: Thanks Sarah, WFWF? What would they want with me?
(The woman begins to walk away, as West opens the envelope and begins to read the letter. After he is finished reading the letter, he calls over to the students in the ring. We assume that today’s class is now over, as the students depart the squared circle and head off towards the changing rooms. However, one student stays behind along with West.)
West: Shaun, fancy heading out to Ohio? I’ve been invited out by WFWF. Seems like there’s another “new era” going on, and I guess they wan to invite a few older WFWF superstars out to promote it.
Shaun: Uh, sure. But why do you want me to go?
West: Well if I appear at all, it’ll probably only be a short segment. Apart from that I’ll mostly be hanging out backstage, meeting up with the boys, talk with the owners. It wouldn’t hurt for them to see you, make your face known.
Shaun: Look, I appreciate all you’ve done for me, but I don’t want any favours from you. If I make it into WFWF, I want to do it myself.
West: I didn’t mean it like that; we’re not going to go out and beg for you to get a trial. But you’ve got potential; WFWF will be interested in that. Besides, they could do with a few more international wrestlers, you fit that bill. They’ve already got everything organised for us; flights, accommodation, the works. Just make sure you’re at the airport tomorrow morning.
(The scene fades as Shaun walks off leaving Mikael West on his own, re-reading the letter from WFWF.)
(We find ourselves following Mikael West and his protégé Shaun Clarke down the corridor of the WFWF arena. As they walk along the corridor, we see the new WFWF World Champion, Obo. West and Clarke slow down to talk to the self proclaimed Ultra Violent All Star.)
West: Hey champ, what’s up?
Obo: Who the are you?
West: I’m Mikael West, you might remember me as “Total Apocalypse”. This is my protégé, Shaun Clarke. We’ve been invited out here for the Felo-De-Se show. I managed to catch Forever Unscarred, congratulations on your win.
Obo: I don’t give a about you, your protégé, or your congratulations. I’m the world champion, I’m ing untouchable.
West: Look, champ. I’ve been in your position before; you’ve just won the title, you think you’ve got it made. Just a word of warning though, don’t let it go to your head, or you’ll lose it all just as quickly as you gained it.
Obo: Thanks for the sermon, but the last guy who lectured me ended up in accident and emergency after our barbed wire war.
(West laughs)
West: Glad to be of service. Anyway, before you get all angry and ultra violent, can you answer me something? You look kind of familiar, but it can’t have been you. The guy I’m thinking about was a Hobo, he was a joke. Do you know what happened to him?
(West walks away laughing as Obo clenches his fists, and trying to control himself. West and Clarke continue to walk down the corridor until they reach the office of the WFWF owners. West knocks on the door, and then they walk in, where they are greeted by one half of the WFWF management team, CBT.)
CBT: TA, good to see you! I can call you TA, right?
West: Sure, I guess. Anyway, just thought I’d pop in to see what you’ve got planned for me to do on the show.
CBT: Yeah, about that, we don’t have time for your vignette to be aired, sorry. But I was speaking with the board of directors, and they’d love to see you make a full time return to WFWF.
West: I don’t know I was kind of hoping just to do this promotion and then go back to Scotland. I’ve just opened a wrestling school; this is one of my students, Shaun Clarke. I was planning on continuing to train wrestlers; it’s been so long since I was an active competitor myself.
CBT: Ah, I see what you’re saying. Maybe it’s best that you don’t return. WFWF has changed a lot since you were last here, maybe you wouldn’t be up to competing with the current roster. Anyway, I’ve got a lot of work to do, once again, I can only apologise for bringing you out here for nothing. Feel free to stay and watch the show.
(CBT ushers West and Clarke out of the office and closes the door behind them. West and Clarke make their way to a nearby locker room, and let themselves in. The locker room is empty, so they both sit themselves down. They both stay silent, and then Clarke speaks up.)
Clarke: So what do we do now? Just stay and watch the show?
West: No, we’re leaving. I can’t believe they’d bring us all this way for nothing. It’s a total lack of respect.
Clarke: So much for getting my face known; abused by Obo and totally ignored by CBT, glad I made the trip.
West: Shaun, shut the up. You came out here, hoping for a trial, you’ll have plenty other chances to be recognised by WFWF. But I’m a former owner of this company, and I get treated like that? Like a worthless piece of shit? Come on, we’re leaving.
Clarke: Look, Mikael, I can appreciate that you’re angry. But just try to cool off for a minute. Chill out back here and watch the show. I’m going to catch a shower, if you’re still angry when I’m back, then we can leave. But seriously, chill out.
(Clarke leaves the locker room, and our hero is left isolated and alone)
“Who the are they to treat me like that? I tried to be a nice guy, showed some respect to them, but what they need to remember is that respect is earned. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, showed them respect out of courtesy. And they react by disrespecting and belittling me? The fact that Obo is World Champion is laughable; he’s still that Hobo who made gay jokes about Johnny Michaels. Back in the day, he’d still be jerking the curtain with his “ultra violence”, competing for the Death Match Title along with Hellraizer and Jack Hunter. I tried helping him out, warning him of the mistakes I made. But of course, he’s the champ, too arrogant to listen to anyone else…when will they ever learn? And as far Tha CBT, doubting my ability to cope with the current WFWF superstars… No disrespect meant to them, I understand they’re doing their best, but there’s not one man in the locker room who could compete with the likes of Alex Sean, Destroyer and Stuart2k1. You know it’s funny. When I look at both Obo and CBT, all I can see is earlier versions of myself. When I won the World Title, I was just like Obo – didn’t have a care in the world, thought I was better than everyone else. But I was wrong, and I didn’t hold onto my title for very long. Hopefully he drops the attitude, or he might just find himself in the very same situation. I made the same mistakes as Tha CBT is making right now. It’s all well and good claiming you’d make a good owner, but actually delivering is much more difficult. I actually feel somewhat hypocritical, complaining that CBT disrespected me, when I made the same mistakes during my tenure as WFWF owner. But I look back now and realise I made those mistakes, maybe in the future CBT will too. But I’m not prepared to let him or Obo wait that long to rectify their mistakes. I’ll go to CBT’s office and I’ll let him know that as of tonight, “Total Apocalypse” Mikael West is back on the active roster. Once I’ve proved my point to CBT, that I can handle the so called competition, I’ll earn a shot at Obo’s World Championship. I’m not going to make the same mistake every other competitor on the roster does, and guarantee that I’m going to be the next World Champion, but what I can guarantee is that after our match, Obo will respect me, and he will realise how important it is to stay level headed. So CBT, Obo, I’d like to say thank you, to both of you. Your arrogance and lack of respect has lit a fire under me, it’s ignited my passion for competing once again. So I give you my sincerest thanks and I can guarantee that you’ll be seeing me soon; maybe even sooner than you expect.”
(With that, West gets up and leaves the locker room, as the scene fades.)
