- As previously noted, Samoa Joe is booked for Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan on 10/25 and 10/27. In addition, TNA is open for booking him to NOAH for future dates. Bob Backlund was booked for Antonio Inoki's 9/8 Inoki Genome Federation show in Nagoya through TNA.
- Back in the summer, Andy Douglas (the dark-haired one) of the former TNA tag team The Naturals posted a message on his MySpace page (www.myspace.com/andydouglas) saying that they were getting a tryout match with WWE at the September 17th Raw in Nashville, TN. They were going to work in Nashville specifically because that's their hometown. Here is the original message that was posted: "Well it has finally been confirmed. Monday, September 17th, the Naturals get their shot at the WWE. We just found out that we get our dark match (try out match) on WWE Raw in Nashville on the 17th. So any and all fans that will be in the Nashville area on that day, please feel free to come down to WWE Raw and give us all the support that all of you have continued to give us over the last 5 years. Thank you all for this support, here on Myspace, during our career with TNA, and all the support from our fans at the local Indy shows. Thank you." However, people from within WWE do indeed troll the internet wrestling websites and they quickly found out that he had announced his tryout in public on his MySpace page. When WWE found out about this, they reportedly called off the tryout. Chase Stevens, his blonde-haired tag team partner, was said to be really angry about this. The post was removed from Douglas' MySpace rather quickly as well, so there was definitely something to the story at the time. Last night's Raw in Nashville, TN came and went and a slew of different, yet familiar faces wrestled in matches prior to the Raw taping due to the lack of depth on the roster from suspensions. Hardcore Holly, Ron Simmons, K.C. James and even Johnny Parisi aka Johnny Swinger worked matches prior to the live Raw taping. The Naturals are nowhere to be found in the taping results. So well, a conclusion can be made that the WWE tryout match in their hometown was indeed called off after the MySpace post from Douglas. They were released from their TNA contracts back in May due to their failure to get over with the fans after numerous opportunities. They still have ties to TNA as they occasionally appear on house shows, but strictly as non-contracted enhancement talent to put over contracted TNA talent.
- TNA will be crowning their first ever Women's Champion in a 10-women gauntlet match at their annual Bound For Glory pay-per-view next month in Atlanta. Jim Cornette noted that the match would feature "five girls you know" and "five girls you don't know." Christy Hemme, Gail Kim, Ms. Brooks, Jackie Moore and Roxxi Laveaux are pretty much locks to appear in the match. According to TNAWrestlingNews.com, the five other names contacted and likely booked for the match include Northeast women's wrestler Talia Madison, former ECW Diva Shelly "Ariel" Martinez, ODB (who regularly appears on OVW shows, but is without a WWE developmental contract), Angel Williams, and international women's wrestler Amazing Kong. According to TNAWrestlingNews.com, Talia Madison and Shelly "Ariel" Martinez have been 100% confirmed to appear in the match. The girl who seems to have the best chance at securing a permanent spot in the company is Martinez because TNA is already thinking about using her as a valet for LAX or James Mitchell's group. Also, TNA is very interested in using Angel Williams and also feel that Amazing Kong would be make for a great addition to the company. Other names being tossed around for the women's division/gauntlet match include April Hunter, Sarah Stock and So Cal Val. Val would probably only be used as a backup in case someone can't make it. Sarah Stock is a pretty girl that works under the name "Dark Angel" for CMLL in Mexico. TNAWrestlingNews.com is reporting that TNA would like to bring her in for the women's division, but there could be a hold-up due to the transportation costs if she chooses stay in Mexico City. It should be noted that no one has been signed to a contract as of yet, just contacted and possibly booked. The gauntlet match will be a "tryout match" of sorts for the five uncontracted ladies. Depending on how things go during the match, the girls who put on the best performances will likely be offered contracts.
