all he did was beat on women. He issued challenges. The challenges were accepted. That's far from "beating on women."

I think he was trying to be funny. it looks like people have lost their sense of humor. anyways, I don't know. I was expecting someone huge like macho man so hearing that andy kauffman was signed was a huge disappointment in my opinion.

I am ECSTATIC that Andy Kaufman has been signed. It doesn't surprise me how many people on the board have no respect for the man and what he accomplished; bitches love to bitch. Any celebrity who tries to compete in the ring is just hoping to emulate 10% of how awesome Kaufman was in Memphis.

Most people were excited , myself included, about a big name signing. Kaufman isn't a name worth getting excited over compared to a Owen Hart or Big Boss Man. I personally will not buy this figure. My choice to bitch or not about this figure because it's my money I'm spending. Those who want/wanted him more power to you. I think he'll be easy to find, he'll be a shelf warmer.

Theres allways gonna people bitching. All they want is A list stars, everything else is not wanted. Im happy with the signing of him!!! Problem is, if they only did A-list stars, they'd run out REAL quick. I haven't really seen that Andy Kaufman has been disrespected. I am thrilled to have him signed and I think most people are. What I think you are doing with this thread is looking for a little attention and drama. Have you read the official announcement thread? wfigs.proboards48.com/index.cgi?board=wrestlingfigs&action=display&thread=1189896190Yes they certainly would run out. Jeremy has been saying it for a long time now. I want Jakks to get every one in the line not just the A-List stars, i want your Bastion Boogers, Ludrig Borgas, Damien Dementos, Mantours in my collection!!!

Kaufman was a important part of wrestling history, and gave it a lot of mainstream recognition at the time. He's pretty important.
As for the stupid people complaining that there's not enough big names in the CS line any more... what do you expect? How many more big stars can materialize now? Yet people also complain if we get too many repaints of people already made. The reasons why Owen/Savage/Steamboat can't be signed have been explained many times, so STOP EXPECTING them to be announced and you won't be disappointed when they're not the big announcements.
In order to guarantee the future success of the CS line I think what Jakks need to ensure is that each series has a good balance of stars from various eras, and also with a variety of appearances. CS15 was almost half full of just guys in plain black trunks. Regardless of the fact Tully and Luger are big names, the series as a whole looked very dull.
While the likes of Adam Bomb, Skinner or King Mabel are not high on anyones list of greatest ever in ring talent, they LOOK interesting and would have helped make a set like CS15 appear a bit more colorful and exciting. Even for someone like myself who respects his wrestling history, it's hard to mark out for 5 nearly identical figures of guys in black trunks.
Anyway... the point I'm making is that hopefully a Kaufman figure will bring some much needed variety to the line. We can all name some better in-ring performers, but to survive the CS line needs it's share of interesting and varied characters. Kaufman qualifies as such.

I disagree. I think it is lame. He had one feud with Jerry Lawler back in the 70's. We don't need his figure.

If they do it properly Andy Kaufman could become my favorite figure ever. If you have not had the opportunity to watch My Breakfast with Blassie then find it quickly and watch it.

Cool for Andy being signed... But I just dont care for it. If I saw it in a 2 pack with the King, then maybe Id get it, but other than that there isnt really much chance of me buying him. There are about 40 other talents that Id much rather see get a CS figure. yes but keep in consideration that not all talent is willing to sign the contract. some people think its a way of whoring out. hell I am not sure a lot of people know this. but Tom Cruise never allowed his likeness to ever be used in a toy figure or doll. he wont sign it. that means no Top Gun, Days of thunder, etc. McFarlane wanted to do a TOP GUN line. and tom wont sign. he thinks its selling out. so while guys like Savage and steamboat may take awhile. i will be happy with a kaufman, a cyndi lauper, hell even a pete rose figure.

I am looking forward to seeing how it turns out personally. It'll be a very unique figure.

I don't think anyone is denying his "place in wrestling history"... but if that is the criteria for the "Classic Superstars" line, as said in the first post... then you are missing dozens and dozens of guys from the early years that did more for wrestling than he did. Jakks obviously isn't going that route... so to use that arguement is weird.
If the figure is good, I may get it. But I'm neutral about the signing
