You want to know the real problem? There are a lot of people here who are total posers about classic wrestlers. Their problem isn't that they don't know who Andy Kaufman is. Their problem is that just think of him as that "Man on the Moon" guy. They think of him as Jim Carey. They think they know who Andy Kaufman is and they think that doesn't really have anything to do with wrestling. Anyone who really knew about the history of pro-wrestling would know that Andy Kaufman had a very real impact on the industry. They see a precursor to David Arquette because they don't know how to perceive him in his real historic context. He brought wrestling into the mainstream 2 years before the WWF followed through on this potential. He sold kayfabe and his character like a pro. He's absolutely a legend and he had a greater impact on the industry than a lot of others who've been included in the CS line. Kaufman simply wasn't an actor who wrestled. He committed to wrestling and did it because he enjoyed the industry. Looking at him like more recent wrestling cameos really misses the point entirely.
The other issue with the complainers is that they think of everything as an either/or situation. That if they sign Kaufman it means they don't sign someone else. This is an absurd rationalization which is entirely detached from the reality of the toy production we've seen in the CS line. Jakks is signing a lot of wrestlers. There is no indication that anyone isn't getting signed so that they can sign Kaufmann. At most, they recognize that Kaufman is a personality who will move figures and anchor a CS series. Still, this means that by making Kaufman, they will be able to make a lot of other figures that'll be released with him. The obliviousness that so many collectors have to these sorts of production realities never ceases to amaze me. Instead, they just pitch a fit whenever a small economic concession is made which allows a lot of different characters to go into production.
