well the Impact after Bound For Glory (where he won the X division title) last year, he was shown backstage as being cocky and arrogant in front of AJ Styles.
that's the heel turn for ya. he then lost the title the same night to Styles. A week or two later, he cost Styles his match with Abyss in the fight for the right tournament, so as to reinforce his new Heel character
