I got to work with Honky Tonk Man a couple of months ago, and it was truly one of the best experiences of my whole career. He was one of my favorites from that era, and he was as great as I had hoped. You never know what you're going to get when you work with a brought in name wrestler, but he was awesome. We drove him from our hotel to the building, so it gave him time to tell some of us stories (a few extra ones since we got lost for a minute). I got to hang out with him before the show, ref his match (where he bumped me), and afterwards at a nightclub and then Denny's. There were a lot of stories about him being difficult to deal with a couple of years ago, but he was a pleasure to work and hang out with. I think he finally realized within the past year or so that being bitter wasn't getting him anywhere. A few years ago, all anyone heard was how hard he was to work with. And now, all you hear about him are good stories. He pretty much told me that. He basically said, "Hey, I'm never going back to the big time. I'm an indy wrestler now". He seems content with where his career is now. Golf and hang out with the wife and kids all week, and wrestle on the weekends. We were at the bar for about 4 hours or so. HTM was advertised as making an appearance there, and they give us free drinks and a bus to and from the hotel. When it was closing time, I went to go get Honky and tell him the bus was leaving. He said he was ready to leave long ago. The thing is, he was tired and bored, but he still chatted with the customers and would do little promos at the DJ booth once in a while. The guy wanted to leave, but was very professional. I can't say anything bad about the man at all. Class act who is still happy the fans still care about him. He's the only wrestler I've ever taken a picture with that I've worked with. I also sent away for an autographed pic years ago to the addy in AZ.

I'm glad you guys like the figures. I think it's really cool that guys like Dan Severn and The Honky Tonk Man are willing to do this kind of thing for the fans. I only wish more past wrestlers would do it. Does anyone know any other past wrestlers that are willing to do this for the fans, where you can send stuff to get signed and have them send it back?? I'd love to send a few figures to get signed by guys like "Superstar" Billy Graham, Harley Race, Bruno Sammartino, Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, Rick Martel and Terry Funk if I could. If someone had their contact information, that would be great. I'm pretty sure you could contact Abby somehow through this restaurant. I plan on making a trip one day to Georgia just to see it- and him- but I don't know if I want to bring anything to get signed or not because, quite honestly, the guy scares the crap out of me. I'm friends with Shelley "No Longer Ariel" Martinez on MySpace, and at one point she had several bulletins about how she had stuff on eBay from her Ariel days, you know, official worn outfits and what not. I sent her a message asking if I got a figure of her, paid for the shipping costs both ways and then maybe even paid a small fee if she'd be willing to sign it and send it back to me. Just because, you know, she's one of my favorite women. Sadly, I never heard back from her, much is the case with me and women in this cruel, cruel world, but hey, it doesn't hurt to try, now does it?
