They either have per figure contracts or lump deal contracts. Others like Warrior have both (because he owns the rights to his name). Some guys make as little as 17 cents per fig sold (which still turns out to be a nice paycheck). However, guys with Legends contracts, the WWE markets them with figures, DVDs, autograph signings etc.

From what I heard, it depends on the wrestler or his status. If he's a big-time name, he'll get a big signing fee plus a bigger percentage from the sales of his figures. Additional "perks" would be the wrestler getting "x" cases of his figs, like the Warrior does. So the bigger the name, the bigger the signing fee and percentage from sales. The "lesser" the name, the smaller the signing fee and sales percentage.
I'm not sure if "percentage from sales" is based on the actual retail or wholesale sales or from what Jakks produces and releases from their factory. That area's vague.
Like I said, this is what heard so I could be wrong. It would be great if the members here who have "friends" are Jakks could enlighten us.

Its been so long since i had the contract in my hand but I think the stat i mentioned above was close to what the contract said of a certain japanese manager

not sure. I think the deal is they get a sining price and then they get so much per unit sold to retail i think.

Here's the deal: They get a contract price (the "signing" amount) and a small percentage of every figure sold (less than $1). That means guys like Warrior and Hogan are getting the most out of their Classics, while guys like Johnny Rodz aren't. I read that from here too, a while back, when someone was able to speak to Ax or Demolition when he just signed for figures.

I thought when Demolition were signed that one of them even said they were paid a total of somewhere around $60,000 for their deal. That they were paid their signing bonus and the royalties for each fig sold. That added up to $60k and that's what they made.

As some of you know , I used to ref on the indies (still do occasionally) and the subject would come up when BSing backstage. I was talking to Christopher Daniels about it at a show in Ohio. He said that the TNA wrestlers get nothing for the figures, it's part of TNA's use of their likeness when they are under contract. Brent Albright also chimed in and said that he had been scanned by Jakks while under contract. He said that all WWE wrestlers get a set percent of merchandise sales in their contract...this varies wrestler to wrestler. He also said that the action figures are NOT included and, just like TNA, the guys make no money off of them. Classic is a different story...I happen to know Bill "Demolition AX" Eadie personally and actually connected him to Jeremy to set up a deal. He signed an initial deal for *I BELIEVE* $30,000 and stated that he gets a certain amount on each figure sold as well. Some of the guys/gals you see in the CS line are under WWE Legends contracts. Some signed with Jakks independently of WWE, but this can only come with WWE's approval. WWE's licensing department makes the call on approved wrestlers. CS guys all have varying contracts.
Hope that clears the air!
