This is my opinion....I totally feel that the last great name mentioned for a future CS figure was Dynamite Kid. To me the CS line is really loosing its appeal fast.
Since then we have heard of Spike Dudley, Lance Storm, RVD, and now Cena. That is four WASTED spots that they could have had four Classic stars.
Why do they have "place holders" if they do not plan on making them. There are some GREAT names already signed, but are not being made, nor are they announced for a future set. Just look at these great names that are already signed...Jack Brisco, Jerry Brisco, Ivan Koloff, Dory Funk Jr., Butcher Vachon, Mad Dog Vachon. These are already signed, so there is no reason they shouldn't be in the line. I would take any of those four over the four recent signed names. Hopefully, they put these four recent names on the "place holders" list and NEVER make them.
With less than 2 years to go, they are really not giving us much to look forward to. Please share your thoughts......

I agree, it dribves me mad looking at those names listed as placeholders & yet not coming out. How much longer am I going to see Demolition Crush's name on there before his figure gets released, and the Brisco's etc.
Come on Jeremey, sort it out. Why get them signed if not looking to produce them? Surely the Brisco's would make a great CSTT set

I agree but you must remember the appeal of the old ECW will NEVER DIE so any fig made from that era is going to sell, opposed to the Briscos who will have very basic ring gear and not to many of the younger guys on the board knowing who they are. As for Cena...................

where are my Big Bully Busick, Ole Anderson, J.J. Dillon, bWo, Damien Demento etc.? I'm glad I never became immersed in the CS line, WAY too many voids, and empty slots of short packed figures I could never find.

I agree, but the problem is some of those names probably won't sell very well.

At this point I would rather continuing waiting for the Briscos, Funks, and all others from that era to insure they do make them correctly as oppose to rushing them.
As for the other great names not signed, we'll have to wait and (hopefully!) see.

I can see Storm and RVD from early ECW...Cena though?! Never. We need to see guys like the Von Erichs, Pedro Moralas, Fuji..Etc...

Dynamite Kid - With Davey boy in a CSTT set in either WMII or WM III attires & tag title belts 2. Sting - 1990 GAB attire including entrance jacket 3. Scott Steiner - With Rick in a CSTT in their WM IX attires including Letterman's jackets 4. Kerry Von Erich - Any Texas Tornado attire 5. Billy Jack Haynes - WMIII attire...including entrance jacket and hat. 6. Hercules Hernandez - black trunks, white boots (w/ fist & lightning bolts) Long chain 7. Pedro Morales - red & orange trunks and a red & silver entrance jacket 8 & 9. Executioners - Studd & Kowalski versions 10. Mr. Fuji -wrestling attire (Black tights that stop at the top of calves, Rising sun logo on thigh & barefoot and old WWF Tag title) 11&12. Nikita & Ivan Koloff- Red singlet w/ gold Russian sickle logo on chest 13. Ole Anderson - red trunks with stars on them 14. Kevin Von Erich - any attire 15. Compared to others on these boards, I'm very tolerant of the CS line in terms of the superstars in it, for example, my reaction to hearing about Tank Abbott was 'why not?' (Hardly a ringing endorsement, but not the doomsday scenario everyone else said it would be) I feel, though, that there is no reason for Cena to be in it, except of course for Jakks' bottom line 'cause it will probably sell like crazy. The line is supposed to be 'superstars of the '70s '80s and '90s' Granted, there have been a handful of figs from the early '00s, but these were of people who made their names during the aforementioned period (CS11 Hogan, LVI, DDP to name a few) but as we all know, Cena debuted in WWE in 2002. Also, wasn't RA1 (Or 2, one of the early sets) debut atttire Cena? As for Spike, RVD and Storm, (All in ECW attires, hopefully) I'd get them, but at the same time, if they'd never been announced, I wouldn't even think about them in CS. As long as there's a '91 era bossman at some point, I'd be happy. And I'm still waiting for Slick, how long has he been signed? It's gotta be nearly 2 years now.....

I have to agree. I mean debut cena isnt' necessary if you ask me. I am happy to see spike and Lance however they are pushing it to call classics. But i'll taek em. They do have way to many singed guys that have not been used yet.

Shawn Michaels (LJN Style Chaser) 4. Sycho Sid 5. Ultimate Warrior 6. Vince McMahon 7. Warlord 8. X-Pac As the line has continued on, as later series’ have shown up, the line has slowly added more and more current day/attitude era guys. Its just the evolution of the line. They are moving it from the 70’s towards the 00’s. Sure, Rey has figures. So does Cena. But didn’t Undertaker? And Shawn Michaels? Cena may only get two CS releases (LJN Style, and Debut gear). Honestly, I’d prefer the debut gear got into a double pack with his old tag partner B2 (Bull Buchannan). That way we get a new wrestler with him, and Buchannan could also be repainted for a double pack in Big Boss Man gear. You guys complaining aren’t gonna change this. If you don’t like him, dont buy him. Randy won’t buy him. Fatboy will. It alters. Im sure that Honky Tonk Man, one of Jakks’ best figure outings, being a shelfwarmer must open some people’s eyes? He’s a great figure, but he is collector-based, and Kids didn’t care about him. CS14 Was an amazing line in our eyes, but to mass retail they stunk up the shop real bad. What kid wants to be seen playing with two guys who look like they’re straight out a g@y p0rn movie? or elvis presley? or an old man who’s balding? or a fat dude with funny shapes in his head? No kid cares about them. Only people who are familiar with them actually loved that line. I passed on abdullah and backlund due to a lack of interest in him, but damn, i bought most of the people in that series twice! My theory, and feeling towards the general WWE product for a while has been confusing. On one hand i think “I wish they’d release a series every three months. that way you’d really look forward to it.” but in the other hand, the winning thought of the two has been “Let them release whatever they want. That way theres a bigger selection for me”. Fair enough, that mentality doesnt work for fatboy or cletus or bluestar, who buy everyone, but for myself (and possibly the majority of collectors) that should be just fine thinking. so seriously.. If you didnt see Cena coming…. well… im sorry. You are missing the point in the line. When Jakks say “The most complete line”, they dont mean every guy from the 70’s and 80’s to ever have laced a pair of boots. They mean a line that starts when WWE made itself a huge name, and right up to current day. Randy, I’m sure Orton will make an appearance in the line, too. In his debut attire, also. I imagine the cut off line for “classic” is about the 02/03 area. If Hogan still had his contract, I’d highly expect to see a Mr. America figure. We’re already working through the attitude era stars, X-Pac, Shawn and Triple H in DX gear, Mankind, Droz, Al Snow, The Rock, etc. so expect CS 24-28 to be strongly based on the early 00’s. Jericho, Benoit (i can hope) steve austin, Test and Albert, Big Show, Hardy boyz, etc. etc. So… i mean.. nothing you can do really. This is what they need to do to make the line continue and to have it make sense. I mean, i love my two or three bret figures.. But if there was a bret every other series, i’d be sick to the teeth of him. I love the warrior figures, and hope to see more, but too many is overkill. Here are the TTL line-ups i posted on the loose site: loosejakks.proboards54.com/index.cgi?board=titantronliveseries&action=display&thread=1193211873I’m sure they’ll give an idea the direction the CS line is going."

I agree with you on Spike & Cena. RVD and Storm I can somewhat understand as they were big stars in the old ECW and i do consider them CS material as long as they are given their 1997-1999 attires. Spike, not really CS material and i would much like someone else in his place instead. Same with Cena his debut 2003 attire I DO NOT consider CS by any means. I'd rather have a re-paint of Hogan, Warrior, HBK, or even someone like Jim Neidhart is a matching attire for CS 13 Bret Hart! hell even opposing attires for LOD from the CS 9 figures!

KKV, we think exactly alike when it comes to the figures in this line. I pretty much feel like I don't even have to say anything now, because you said it so well.
As for the recent signings, bring em on. Storm is a definite pickup, as is Spike if he's in his ECW gear. RVD will probably be picked up, depending on which attire he comes with as well as accessories.
Cena, I'm not too big a fan of, but truthfully, in every line, there's about half of them I don't want or really care for, so I pass them up. Cena will be no exception.
The line has probably 12-13 more waves planned, guys, not to mention tag teams and two packs, exclusives, etc. They'll get around to making people you want, but they have to make people that make money. I've been shocked to see figures like Razor warm shelves recently, and around here, they haven't stocked anything new since 14 sinec they're all still sitting on shelves. They need newer, more recognizable blood in the line to move product.
Just think of it this way...every John Cena they sell in that wave will allow you to get someone more obscure in that same wave, or another wave down the line.

The CS Line is for ADULTS...not KIDS!

The CS Line is for ADULTS...not KIDS! The CS Line is for PROFITS... not ADULTS! OK, so they sign all 400 of the no-names that appear on everyones list. We then have all the guys from NWA, WCCW, WWWF, etc. and what happens? we get to CS22 at the latest and you can no longer buy CS in stores because no shop will take an un-sellable series. Why are YOU telling us CS is for adults? Was it you that wrote up the idea and plans for the line? I'm pretty sure Jakks copped on fairly early into the line that they were gonna run out of 70's talent very quickly, so they did a very, very smart thing and moved the line into the current days. the point is, if you only buy CS figures, you will have the most complete wrestling figure collection you can get. If you only buy CS you get Hulk Hogan, you get Bret Hart, You Get Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H, John Cena. You get them all. you get everyone. No wrestling figure line in 2008 can survive at mass retail basing the line solely on people who are unknown to the majority of potential customers. I recently seen a kid buying a Lex Luger figure. Why? Because he thought it was Triple H. If he knew it was Lex there's no doubt in my mind he would still be on the shelf today, right next to Abdullah, Demolition, Honky Tonk Man, Ernie Ladd and so many other "great CS figures". Simple fact is that kids are the majority. Kids don't want statues. Thats why UF are practically an internet-only line. If they did things the way most people on here want them, then all we'd hear is moaning about how everyone has to buy them online and theres never any detail in them because Jakks aren't making enough back off them to care enough. Look at RA.. DX HHH and Undertaker.. over and over and over and over again. Did i buy more than one? Hell No! So why keep releasing them? because the kids are buying them. Kids are the target audience. Not adults. Sheesh

The CS Line is for ADULTS...not KIDS! Says who? CS line is for wrestling fans of all ages. I'm willing to bet that CS Cena sells way more figures Jack Brisco, Jerry Brisco, Ivan Koloff, Dory Funk Jr., Butcher Vachon, Mad Dog Vachon. Jakks runs a business to make profits. Do I agree with Cena being in the CS line? No I don't, but from a business stand point, I can understand why they do it.
