MY GF hates wrestling...I missed ECW 3 weeks in a row just so she could watch a movie. I said thats fine but i got into an argument with my brother asking him to tape it and he told me to  off. My GF thinks she will change me. I cant understand why she hates it so much, its something that i enjoy with my family. |

I find it's the fact that fans are so defensive that make people make fun of it even more. I've had very few instances besides from my siblings where people made fun of me to my face, now I keep my wrestling interest pretty pirvate so very few know about it, I find it helps. But in those rare times in which people have made fun of me, I haven't gotten all up in arms about it, I usually reply "Yeah I guess it's stupid but whatever." or "Yeah it's jsut something I watch." if you seem chill about it people tend to feel like idiots for making fun of you.
Just this year I had an experience like this. My roomate was an ass,and he was always trying to embarass me behind my back. Anyways when I first moved in I told him I liked wreslting "I said it's stupid and stuff, but it just helps me unwind" and he was like "Oh yeah, man. Nah wresltings cool with me, me and my friends sometimes watch and have a blast." But I still seldom watched it when he was around. Towards the end of the year he was really looking hard for stuff to make fun of me about, and one evening me and one of my buddies were playing NWO vs WCW for N64. He walked in, got his phone and left, he did it often so I thought nothing of it. Later on that evening my friend told me he said to him "Dude do you know he has wrestling DVD's? I mean isn't that stuff like 4th grade?" I really hadn't told my friend I liked wrestling so I was like "Yeah I have DVD's it's just something I watch to relax. I know it's stupid but whatever." And in the end my roomate came out looking like more of an ass. I mean the fact that I had known all of my friends for just about 9 monthes and then they found out I liked wrestling from my roomate really helped, because it said to them it's not really something that makes me dfiferent since they didn't know.

The worst i ever get is "i bet if you FU'ed someone, you wouldn't pin them for three seconds"
I just look at wrestling as light entertainment and me and my mates laugh at it rather than treat it as a serious thing that i feel i need to defend

I'm must be the only guy here to never get insulted about liking wrestling. I don't either. You guys must know some really mean people if they pick on you for watching it. I only have one friend who likes it but I don't talk to him much about it cause I am alot more educated on it (no offence, I've just done more research etc.) My friends sometimes laugh at it (not at me) simply cause of the weird angles but that's as far as it goes really. |
