Another thing, he said that a heel's job is not to get over. A classic example of a heel getting over would be Stone Cold Steve Austin. Do you think he thinks Austin was a failure as a heel, since he was getting cheered like crazy? Yes, Austin sucked as a heel. The heel is in the ring to be hated. That's the heel's job: to be hated. If you are getting cheered, you're not doing your job as a heel. This is why Austin was turned face, because the crowd forced it. If Austin was doing his job as a heel, he never would have been turned. |

i disagree.
this is that wwe mentality.
who cares about the crowd? id rather see a great realistic match with 1000 fans than a fake looking wwe match with 50,000 people

At the point in wrestling history where Austin was beginning to get cheered was during a transistional period. Fans were getting tired of the same old boring babyfaces. We were looking for someone bad ass to be the anti-hero. Bret Hart's schtick was getting old and Austin could do no wrong in the eyes of the wrestling fan. Austin even stunned SANTA CLAUS! If that was the 1980's and Santa was stunned, children would be crying and he would have been booed out of the arena. Prime example of a heel getting over with the crowd would be Mr. Kennedy. He was getting massive ovations the past couple of weeks and the only thing he could do to stay a heel was to start insulting the crowd at the beginning of each promo. "Blaming" the fans for costing him the MITB breifcase....etc. And....As we all know, insulting the crowd is the cheapest form of heat there is. |

In Eddies book he says whether the cheering or booing, at least your making some noise.. |

Yeah, but he's not putting asses in seats because he's a good wrestler  Most of the wwe fans don't care about workrate. With his skill level, he would not get over in ROH, which has the smarter wrestling fans. |

Pretty much yeah that would mean he sucks. Good matches don't mean a damn thing if there's no one there to see them, and if you're not drawing fans you've failed as a wrestler. Yeah but fans of today don't give a damn about workrate. If they did, guys like CM Punk and Jamie Noble would sell out arenas like MSG. Guys like Cena and Batista suck in terms of workrate, yet they're big stars because the fans of today are annoying little teenargers who don't appreciate what wrestling truly is. I find fans like you ten times more annoying then Cena and Batista fans. You don't ever shut up! |

It definately does make a whole lot of sense. Pro wrestling is more than being a technical god, which is what people here think. Being a good pro wrestler means you draw crowds, have the fans on the edge of their seats, get the crowd going on the mic and have a solid moveset. Cena has all those assets, which is why he is the best professional wrestler in the world right now. |

if you want a good wrestler think back to HHH 2000
he catered not just to one demographic, he catered to those who enjoyed the techincal skill he had also he catered to be a heel and working a good match that always had people on their edge...

(Assuming you're talking about his 2001 heel turn rather than his Ringmaster stint) -- I think the crowd just wanted to cheer him because they had been used to cheering him the last four years before he turned heel. I thought he was a good heel, but like I said, the crowd probably wanted to cheer him not because he was a bad heel but because they were just used to cheering him. |

Your job is not to entertain the fans or have a good match? Ahh, ookay. Well then after that famous mixed tag with Trish, Jackie Gayda should have been given the womens title and be pushed to the moon, shame. It's a lot more to do with the overall state of the company than it is the stars themselves. Btw, what is it with wrestlers shootin their mouth of swearing all the time throughout these shoots? Is it like a shoot interview requirement? Its always  , in, ing, etc |
