I think this might make for some good discussion.
I'm wondering how important Professional Wrestling is in people's lives.
For me, it's one of the most important aspects of my life. I've been a wrestling fan since I was 7 years old. I remember it was back in late 1997 when I first saw a commercial for WCW Thunder on TBS and I decided to check it out. I wrote down the day and time it was on and taped it to the entertainment center so I wouldn't forget. As I was watching that night I remember just sitting there in amazement at this spectical known as World Championship Wrestling. After that I started searching up all the information on WCW that I could get. To no surprise I was teased in school for being a wrestling fan. Kids would always say "Why would you want to watch that crap?" and "It's just 300-pound men in tights jumping on each other!", you know, the usual. But I always maintained being a fan. I would tell them all to actually watch a wrestling show before opening their mouths but, of course, they never did.
...Jump to ten years later. I (now 17 years old) still maintain Pro Wrestling as one of the biggest things in my life. I'm now an avid watcher of WWE, TNA, and many of the Independant promotions across the globe.
People don't harass me for being a wrestling fan anymore. Before I went up to Alberta to have my tryout for a wrestling school I told most of my classmates about it. They all saw me the next day walking around holding my back and I think they all kind of got an idea of how wrestling takes a toll. In one of the classes I had last year, the teacher asked us what we plan on doing after High School. I told the class that I was going to work towards being a professional wrestler (but, here's the kick): A girl, whom I still have a pretty big crush on, told me that she thought it was pretty cool that I want to be a wrestler.
So there's my story, what's yours?
Hope I didn't bore anyone too badly with all of that.
