Cena's gimmick is that of Ken Shamrock crossed with Grandmaster Sexay but doesn't act either out properly. His gimmick is he's a Wigga who will fight to the death and do whatever it takes to beat the hell out of someone, but he doesn't have competition or in fact has ever had a reason to have this "Hustle, Loyalty, Respect" gimmick if he doesn't pull it off. Back in the Attitude era, he probably would have fought backstage and built up matches etc, but now it launches without warning into 4 moves and a pin. Even The Rock who was a crowd pleaser because of his goofy gimmick could still look like he was pissed off as hell with someone, see the Mankind vs Rock empty arena heat match for that one. Ratings are declining because there is no variety anymore. I have on several occasions recently mistaken Smackdown or Raw to be a repeat because it's the same every week.

I agree with some of you guys. Vince has all the necessary resources to bring in names that have impact, he's just trying to create new superstars from his current roster. In a way, this is the right move to make. Consider this: When Steve Austin was a lesser known star in the WWF, if they would've just brought Hulk Hogan or Roddy Piper back (rather than push the talent they had) then Austin may have never gotten the push he needed to thrive. Vince wants to make legends out of his current roster so the younger talent can have a brighter future (and so he can save money). If you always just brought The Rock back, you may never find the next "Rock".
Scott Hall & Sean Waltman (as I hear it) are in talks with WWE for a return. This sounds amazing, but it really all depends on what Vince will do with them, both short term and long term. Scott Hall's return means nothing if he's not booked with respect. We'll just have to see what happens.
Untill recently I had also been hearing that Goldust would be brought back in to have one more big IC run, but appearantly that was scrapped so now he's going to be wrestling in TNA as "Platinum". I hate that too because I'm a big fan of the "New Generation" and "Attitude" eras when Goldust was very popular, so I would've loved to see him return. I'm also a hardcore WWE loyalist, so I refuse to watch TNA unless one of ours jumps brands.

I agree with some of you guys. Vince has all the necessary resources to bring in names that have impact, he's just trying to create new superstars from his current roster. I understand what the concept is and every guy on the roster has the basic ability to carry them to a certain point, but in order to get the rest of the way, they have to be booked a certain way. For instance, if they had booked Austin as a cheerleader or The Rock as a pirate, it would have been virtually impossible for them to get over. This is why I believe that the "Creative" staff needs to be crapcanned post haste. They clearly have no concept of how to create a character that will get someone over. Guys like Cena and Orton didn't break through until they were able to be themselves only amped up, like Triple H, Rock and the other Attitude Era superstars were during their runs. Until they figure that out, the only alternative is to bring in guys that already have established characters and are over. It would also add something to the mix instead of the same guys in the same matches every week.
