- Recently signed superstar and former Ring of Honor talent Matt Sydal will report to WWE’s Ohio Valley Wrestling developmental territory after he finishes all of his independent dates. While still not confirmed it is expected that Sydal will be finished with his independent obligations towards the end of this month.
- You can take it for what it’s worth, but local advertisements for the SmackDown/ECW house show in Hammond, Indiana on September 30th are promoting Kane vs. The Great Khali for the World Heavyweight Championship as well as Rey Mysterio vs. Finlay. The advertisements could be largely inaccurate as they are sent out far in advance and are still promoting CM Punk vs. John Morrison for the ECW Championship.
- The official theme song for WWE’s Unforgiven pay-per-view is “Rise Today” by Alter Bridge.
- Triple H and Shawn Michaels will be in Louisville, Kentucky this afternoon to visit Ohio Valley Wrestling to observe the WWE developmental system and help scout new talents. Despite them being at OVW, don't look for them to appear on the OVW TV taping.
- Rob Van Dam's profile has finally been removed from the ECW roster page.
- The current plan in ECW has CM Punk holding the ECW World title until John Morrison comes back from his suspension, where he will get the belt back.
- As we reported yesterday evening, Ric Flair gave his notice to WWE because he was unhappy with the direction of his character; however, the two sides are still in talks in an attempt to patch things up. We are now able to confirm that Flair actually gave notice that he would be leaving a few weeks ago, far before reports of the Signature Pharmacy steroid scandal broke. Flair knows that he is near the end of his legendary career, but he is still sick and tired of the way that he has been used in the company. With all of the recent suspensions (on top of the already thin roster from injuries), Flair’s bargaining position within the company has certainly improved for WWE to offer him a bigger role. WWE is doing all that they can to get Flair back and are even working under the assumption that they will be able to patch things up. One source told us that Flair has been dealing with some personal issues involving his children lately which have affected his mood.
- In what you may refer to as bad timing, William Regal recently said the following on whether or not steroid use was prevalent in wrestling during an interview with Alicia Butwell:
"Certainly not, steroids is a hard thing for me to talk about, I’m open to talk about because it’s not something that’s part of my being as a performer, it’s not something that I’ve ever relied on or anything that I’ve had anything to do with. When I was in my early 20s, in fact very early 20s when I was still living in England and traveling the world I dabbled in steroids, but nobody ever told me to or forced me to. Nowadays we get tested very thoroughly and if guys are going to use steroids and they get tested they’re going to get caught and they’re going to get found out or they’re going to get suspended or fired, there’s no getting away from the fact that there are people who use steroids not only in our line of work but in all lines of sports or business and it’s something our company is doing its best to get away from and stamp out completely and hopefully that’s something that’s going to happen. It’s something that I find very frustrating at the moment and all of a sudden because one person has done something that’s absolutely -- I just can’t comprehend it and why we’re all being labeled as monsters all of a sudden and it’s not the case". William Regal was one of the WWE superstars listed in the Signature Pharmacy steroids probe and it is presumed that he has been suspended by the company for 30 days.
