Cena doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Backlund, Sammartino, Morales and Savage, let alone be listed among them. Now come on LOL, I Hate Cena as much as you do but you are not saying Randy Savage was an excellent wrestler are you randy savage was a great wrestler . shoot savage was a 2nd generation wrestler.you just don't what great wrestling is if you think savage was not good.he wrestled just like all the great 80's wrestlers did . you just might not like old school wrestling or 80's wrestling

Things like this don't matter much to me for some reason. Hem ay have held it for a long time, but who knows why? It certainly doesnt make him the biggest draw or best champ ever.

I think he should of lost it last night, just one day off holding this record.
Still nevermind. He'll lose it eventually.

Cena's reign has nothing on the reigns of guys like Shawn Michaels (circa 1996), Stone Cold (circa 1998), and hell, not even Triple H (the reign of DOOOOM!!!).
Cena has spent a whole year facing Khali, Umaga, or sticking to PPV tag matches. Even Diesel's reign had more big names than that! 2007 will be up there with 1993 and 1995 as far as how forgotten everything is. Why? Because John Cena held the belt the ENTIRE year.

I'm glad to see him hold on to it. It brings some credibility back to the title, and when someone finally does beat him for it, it will mean something.
omg der iz no cred bnecuz cena suxxx!!!11!!

Well it sets the standard and path for the Future of the Company I suppose, shows he will be around for a long time. As much as he's hated, he's been WWE's best Champion of the new Generation; and if you compare Sammartino with John Cena, it shows how far wrestling has evolved in terms of a product.

JBL was close to this record though. RVD in my mind did not deserve it. But that is another can of worms. Of course he deserved it. He deserved it a LOT earlier. The guy was the most over superstar by far in 2001 & 02. A title reign back then would have been a cash cow. Unfortunately, most of his overness had rubbed off by 2006. But he still deserved it. He's a great wrestler and he was on his home turf. If they would have given Van Dam the title in 2001 when he was mega-over it would have been awesome.

Shut the up Old School. Your constant Cena bashing grew old a long while ago. So did Cena's title reign(s). That's all I'm saying. Get over it,You have all those legends in your sig well pretty soon cena will have better legacys than majority of them.

I don't like Cena anymore. I used to be a huge fan when I was like 13 or 14 but now seeing him have the title for so long has made me completely dislike him.

One of the longest reigns doesn't mean it one of the best (Honky Tonk Man anyone?).... just because cena is shoved down our throats doesn't mean we have to accept it or like it...... if Khali was champ for 3 years would that make him one of the best? hell nah people nowadays are forced to except mediocrity for greatness.. and it's sad

Let me get this right. People want great main events on pay-per-views--you know, where people are PAYING to see the show--and John Cena does that. He's had amazing matches with Umaga, Shawn Michaels, Edge, Triple H, Randy Orton, Rob Van Dam, and Bobby Lashley and that all gets thrown to the wayside. I must be missing something. Right now, there's a lot of people that hate Cena but think back to 1999-2000 when The Rock was the top star in the business. People may hate to admit it now but The Rock was not immensely popular on the internet. Now, he's beloved and everyone wishes he'd come back for even one match. I am by no means comparing Cena to Rock because John's got a ways to go before he can solidify himself as a true "legend" but I don't understand how we can discredit his awesome matches/main events just because some people hate his "gay jokes."

I bet you when Savage hit 1 Year all the 1989 smarks were complaining too Same w/ hogan and i bet they were complaining that he only had 5 moves, always hulking up, weak finisher, just a stupid musclehead etc etc
Its not like they are going to induct Cena into the HOF next year or anything... He held the title for 1 year because of his popularity and the reactions he gets...
they've built up Cena so much that they need some Great wrestler to take the belt from him... Someone like Jericho, HHH, Michaels etc.

Mr old school Cena is going to have a career thats ten time more productive than alot of the greats like M$M,Savage,Mr.Perfect,Owen Hart,Honky Tonk Man,Ultimate Warrior and majority of the "OLD SCHOOL" wrestlers. If you don't believe that than you clearly don't pay attention to wrestling.
