Chris Jericho was on the Opie and Anthony show Friday morning and got into a heated argument with the hosts. After doing the usual interview questions and stuff, things took a weird turn.
The subject of Jericho's dad playing hockey with the NY Rangers came up and Jericho talked about he also played some hockey and took part in the Christopher Reeve celebrity hockey show. Reeve has been a target of Opie and Anthony's jokes for years now so one of the comedians, Jim Norton, immediately fired off a bad Reeve joke. Jericho didn't like it and let the guy know it saying he went too far. Jericho explained Reeve was his friend and he defends his friends. Norton said it was just a joke. Things got pretty intense between the two with Jericho eventually loosening up and saying he was just kidding. Norton however, wouldn't let it go and kept antagonizing Jericho about it. Jericho told the guy it appeared his feelings were hurt by some of Jericho's comments.
Opie then offered some context into why Jericho might be sensitive to Norton's joke - Jericho's mother was a quadriplegic. The show pretty much stopped right there with things getting so tense that the XM Radio security guy came in to make sure everything was OK and nothing was going to happen. This apparently offended Jericho as he said he was a professional wrestler and wouldn't resort to violence. This whole thing went on for about a half an hour until eventually they brought in a topless chick into the studio and things settled down. But still, there was tension throughout the rest of the show.
