Best Wrestler --
Ric Flair
Best Tag Team --
Road Warriors
Best Giant --
Andre (hey, he gained national publicity for professional wrestling before the Hogan era had even been ushered in.)
Best cruiserweight --
Dean Malenko (when the cruiserweight style started taking off in WCW, Malenko was there. Even before that, in Japan and ECW -- who was there? Malenko was there.)
Best diva --
Moolah (who else has truly been around as long?)
Greatest deceased wrestler --
Eddie Guerrero (he's only recently deceased, and a fairly recent wrestler in general -- but his last WWF run from 02-05 represented everything a worker should have in pro wrestling, mainstream, foreign, or independent American -- talent, drawing power, and charisma. Guerrero was the man, and I miss him.)
Best team/squad --
--nWo (revolutionary for late 90s WCW)
--DX (not as revolutionary for late 90s WWF as nWo was for late 90s WCW, but it held its own nevertheless.)
--Four Horsemen (Enough said.)
Best brand --
Late 90s WWF (the wrestling wasn't as good as, say -- classic NWA or AWA for example, but the TV was good and the angles were compelling. The rating for "The Rock -- This is your life" backs up the argument.)
Best show --
Late 90s WWF RAW (see above.)
Best face --
Mid-to-late 80s WWF Hulk Hogan
(Meh, what can I say?)
Best heel --
Triple H, circa 2000-present
(Despite what anyone says, who can work, talk, and generate heat like heel Triple H? Whether it was as part of the McMahon-Helmsley faction in 2000, Evolution in 2002, or beating the tar out of Ric Flair in 2005, heel Triple H can do it all -- and then some. Case closed.)
Best American --
Kurt Angle, circa 2000
(Yes, nerdy upper midcard Euro-Continental Champion Kurt Angle takes it. Hey, he could wrestle, and talk. What's not to love?)
Best manager --
Paul Heyman, circa ECW/WCW Alliance invasion angle, 2001
(Okay, so he wasn't really a manager. Why is this version of Paul Heyman up there with the likes of Jimmy "The Mouth of the South" Hart, Bobby Heenan, and others?
The promo he cut on Vince McMahon -- right before Tazz (or should I say Taz?) choked him out.
Enough said.)
Best heel turn --
Steve Austin, WWF inVasion 2001
(Here you have the biggest face in WWF since Hulk Hogan, kayfabe-wise, join a promotion that he was fired from years earlier after being told he'd never make it. Again, what's not to love?)
Weirdest worker --
Bastion Booger
(Well. . .yeah.)
Funniest worker --
Bobby "The Brain" Heenan
(The definition of "wit.")
