When did the attitude era.......what?
And you really can't figure out what year the X anniversary was?
Last time I checked 2007 - 5 years wasn't too hard.

The exact time when Vince bought WCW.

I'd say it was the night Vince McMahon gave his "Ruthless Aggression" speech and then Cena debuted and that all would of started what should/could be known as the Ruthless Aggression era.

So many dates could be argued
When Austin joined forces with Vince at WM 17 When WWF beat WCW at Survivor Series 2001 When Vince bought WCW When Undertaker returned as the Badass When nWo entered the WWF
but I think it ended when they changed the name to the WWE from of course WWF.

I would say ether when WCW and ECW arrived WWF or WWF Defeated WCW/ECW at Winner take all Match.

Either when the nWo showed up, or when Flair became "part owner." Within the few months of December 2001 and Feb. 2002.

Wrestlemania 17, or April 1st, 2001 to be exact.
My reasoning? After Wrestlemania, new talent flocked in, thus creating the short term InVasion Era, which ended after the nWo had to disband and Vince gave his "Ruthless Aggression" speech to the lockerroom, starting what I guess you could say is the Ruthless Aggression Era. Make sense?

It ended when the Rock went to Hollywood, and Austin quit his in ring role.

To me, I would say right when WCW was destroyed. After that, it was the End of an Era and the beginning of another.

Around 1997 - early 2001.

I would say it ended with the destruction of WCW. I think WWE was only doing racy segments at the time to compete with its rival company, and since it no longer had a rival it just dropped the Attitude concept entirely.

When Jericho became the Undisputed Champion. That's when everything started to go downhill.

you could say it ended with vince purchasing WCW, but i think it stuck around a little longer than that. 2002 was the real transition year, it was atitudeish when the year started, and by the time it was over it had manifested into the whole ruthless aggression deal.

My belief has always been the day after KOTR2002.

Personally, I don't agree with those that say it ended when Vince gave his Ruthless Aggression speech as I feel it was long gone by that point. I'd say it was about the time Vince purchased WCW. Not the exact date, as WM17 was just a week later I believe. So I'd say it ended the second WM17 went off the air. That way I don't have to consider the greatest PPV of all time to be a part of the "current era" (what do we call it anyway? Brand Split Era?) and it ends the Attitude Era on a high note.
Although, I would also accept someone saying it lasted up until the brand split. Mainly because I don't really consider the post-WM17/Invasion timeframe to be a part of the Attitude Era, nor do I see it as a part of the modern Brand Split era. Kind of a segue from one era to another.
