ok before all you attitude era marks pop a tampon strings let me explain....This has NOTHING to do with with his "demons". Eddie at best was a upper mid card-mid card talent. Thats NOTHING to be ashamed of. Thats putting him in the catagory of the likes of people like Owen Hart, Rick Rude, Dean Malenko and Scott Hall. Eddie could put on a 5 star match, perfect example Vs Dean Malenko 2 out of 3 falls in ECW. Honestly though his world title was handed to him because of his overcomming of his "demons". It doesnt matter where, WWE, WCW, ECW, AAA, CMILL, NJPW, AJPW etc mid card talents are NOT world champions, thats why they are called MID CARDERS and his ONLY world title reign in ANY company came in the WWE. Someone tell me why a 4 month title reign where you fought the likes of...JBL, Big Show, Rey Mysterio and Chavo makes you great? The Guerreros arent even responsible for brining the "lucha style" to main stream america wrestling. That goes Konnan who brought them to ECW and then later WCW. The Guerreros never ran their own BIG promotion like Stampede, WCCW, AWA, WWE, WWC. The Guerrero family was great no doubt but they didnt contribute to the business like the above mentioned families did.....And for the record the Orton name probably shouldnt belong there, but Randy was born in my hometown so i always include it
The name Gagne is only there because of Vern. Greg is just lucky hes got the name. Verne did more for or as much with this business as Vince McMahon did. I never got to see the AWA back in the days but for anyone that hasnt check out the AWA DVD that the WWE released this year. While we were lil kids for Hulk Hogan, Andre The Giant, Ric Flairs and Roddy Pipers in the WWE, it was Verne Gagne who created ALL of those guys. Plain and simple without Vern/AWA the WWE wouldnt be what it is today.
People who have actual wrestling ability, can work a crowd great, and don't have a phenomenal body are only considered MID CARDERS because they are small. Plain and simple. This rule only applys in WWE. I stand by my belief in saying taht Eddie did not get is World Title run based on him overcomming his demonds. Eddie had it comming to him. At that point he had been in the business for over a decade, paid his dues and made an international name for himself. He sold merchandise, and was over as hell. He deserved his spot. He did not get it out of pity, because there are alot more guys in the back in WWE who have gone through just as much, or even worse than Eddie and they never got the push. So you saying that Eddie basically got his title shot out of pure pity, is rediculous. Guys like him, Jericho and Benoit all got their spots because they are small guys who struggled and made international stars of themselves and got a well deserved push for it. It's a shame that Malenko retired before it could happen to him. But, I'm pretty sure you see where I am comming from.
