What does the word "Heel" mean? i keep hearing it! Nah seriously, Why do they have to blur/erase/cover/etc. the WWF Scratch logo when they're showing footage from the Eras it was used? I mean.. they can use the WWF Block logo, but not the scratch logo? I don't get it. Its always been on my mind sub-consciously. I mean. it makes no sense. Showing that logo doesnt hurt the Panda people. It doesnt attack them by having a WWE scratch logo present. Its not like they can pretend it never existed. It was the central part of the RAW IS WAR titantron. So, my question: Can anyone think of any logical reason why WWE are not allowed display the WWF Scratch logo? (This one:)

Because they don't own the right to use the logo anymore.

Last I had heard the reasoning is because the WWF scratch logo is the most known logo WWE ever had and people associate WWF with the WWF scratch logo. Does not make sense really but that is what I was told.
Looking at that WWF logo just looks odd now.. I am kinda glad it did change. Without the F it looks alot more clean cut.

It is because WWF and The World Wildlife Foundation had a agreement when WWF had the block logo.
Then WWF got really huge again in the attitude era so The World Wildlife Foundation took WWF to court to have them change there name. The World Wildlife Foundation won.
And since they won WWf had to change it name. To the WWE. And since they were in court over the WWF name when the WWF was using it's scratch logo and the W.W.F. did not agree with the WWE using the name at the time they were using the scratch logo they and they had no permission to use it. They must edit it out.

IMO they shouldn't have had to blur it out of old footage. I understand if they couldn't use it anymore and had to change the name, but censoring the stuff from the Attitude era is annoying as hell.

I thought it was so it wouldn't confuse newbs. They can say World Wrestling Federation, show the old logo but no scratch logo or saying WWF. What I dont understand is the movie Beyond the Mat. I know it came out years before the change to WWE but it was re-released on DVD in 2004 with new special features how come they didnt have to blur out the logo's.

Beyond the Mat isn't a WWE production. They are only banned from using the scratch logo and saying WWF, not World Wrestling Federation. THey are allowed to say the actual name, but not the initals.

The block logo suggests WF as it is physically 1 W whereas the Attitude logo is clearly 2 w`s and an f = WWF

Because of the Wildlife Funds pricks. The old wwf logo they can use but not the attitude era. They own the rights to it, it's just that the "Fund" doesn't want the initials associated with that era of wrestling. Which is why they sued them during the attitude era.

completley wrong, and doesnt make any sense. Isn`t it past your bedtime?? Stop being a prick. Anyway, But what i don't get is removing it. I mean, i can totally understand if they said, "you have to change the name of the company. you can't both be WWF, You have X amount of time to change over the companies name, and you cant use that logo any more either." But.. What i don't get is... why would they say "Any footage that has already been recorded that is being remade for release must have that logo removed from the footage." Thats just ridiculous. It's like Matt Groening losing a court case, and when the best of The Simpsons series 1-3 comes out (not a rel thing, just an example) they have to edit everything so they aren't yellow. I mean.. When they release Tagged classics, around the Wrestlemania 15-18 area.. do they blur the turnbuckle covers?

He attacked me and told me I`m wrong and couldn`t even give a reason as to why, I believe I`m entitled to a little prickiness!! and yes they have to remove all WWF likeness from future WWE DVD release. World Wildlife Fund won the lawsuit, and own the rights to "WWF" why would they let WWE profit from something they own?

Tagged classics are only available in Europe and are produced by silvervision which is not a WWE owned company, meaning thast they are free to use the logo as they wish. I read that in fighting spirit magazine some time last year.

I read that in fighting spirit magazine some time last year. Eh.. I'm pretty sure they do censor the logo in most places and people saying "WWF" along with theme music they dont own any more (Demolition for example) but i was just curious if they censored the logos on the turnbuckles, as that would require serious time and effort to do (As they are always on screen and often interacted with). But, im not 100% sure...

Suggests! but it is physically 1 w. See how the line runs into the f and not to the top of the w? the other logo is 2 w`s and an f. Tagged classics are direct from the VHS release, and I pretty sure as they are in Europe and only released in region 2 PAL format, they are free from the legal constraints of the lawsuit in The U.S.
