I like this one, but I'm still having issues with text color. I'll need to figure something out about that. However, I also realize that this type of sig is cliche for me now, so I did two others in the theme of my Halo 3 wallpaper. And then one with a background I like the one without a background more than the one with, personally.

The first one, though the text is your usual, is a step away fro mthe norm for you in a good. The brushing is pretty good along with a nice overall soft feel of the piece.
This can not be said for these last two. I can see you're trying to step away from what you usually put out but this just isn't working for you. I do, however, I agree with you tha the first one looks better than the second. If I were you, I'd completely scrap the second one. The first one is something you may wanna tweak abit and work with.
You could start by removing the grey coloring to the left of the cut. You may also wanna have the cut become just a tad more visible. Not sure what effect you used so don't know what you could do but the cut seems to distorted.

I agree with everything C_F said. The first is pretty nice, except for the font choice/style/color.
The 2nd one is better, but has flaws. Like, the far left, what's with that grey area? The main cut is very choppy, and there's some choppyness on the main font too.
