the electricity bill was like 400$ and its normally 150$ to 200$ and Ive had the 360 since x-mas so they think thats whats raising the bill. i know the power brick is huge but i just cant think of how that system can take that much electricity so thats why i asked. i would like to hear from more people about this just so its a reassurance that it wasnt my xbox

Has it been really cold where you live this winter, because having the heat running all the time is much more likely to do it than the 360.

Don't you think by a little Google search you'd be reading COUNTLESS stories about power bills jacking up 100%? You could convert your entire attic into a ing vivarium and probably still not get that kind of hike.

Hell, if anything the 360 should be helping you save money due to its ability to heat a room.

You can't possibly believe that a video game console would cost between $200 - $350 a month to run. The XBOX 360 has been out since November 2006, don't you think someone would have said something before now?

Why do you believe that they do? Since everyone here has said from experience and common sense that it doesnt.

I don't think he means that the 360s raise the electric bill, but rather how his parents believe it does. To the OP, I really doubt that any consumer electronic, including your PC (unless it is over 20 years old), would be capable of raising the bill that much. I don't know how your electric company works, but mine does gas and electric, and if yours is the same way then it is likely due to having the heat on for long stretches of timw during the winter.
