THQ sent me Metro 2033, nice of them. Didn't know it was coming, was pleasantly surprised when it arrived today. Any opinions of the game thus far?

Joystiq has gotten word that USB Storage Device support will be coming in a dashboard update this year. The catch? It will only support a maximum of 16 GB per device, and you can only use a maximum of 2 devices for a total of 32 GB. This is a real nice workaround for people with 20 GB drives that want to up their space without it costing too much. Best Buy has a 16 GB Flash Drive for 32.99. As someone with a 120 GB drive already, I'm less excited for this than I could be, since it gets capped at 16 GB. I have an extra USB hard drive that I could certainly use, but there's no point in wiping it empty if I can only use 16 GB of it.

All I know is I've had my 120 GB for about 2 years now, and have only used maybe 30 GB. So I'm good.

I do install most of my games, it's more so that I just delete them when I sell the game. I think I have Portal and Beatles RB installed right now. Oh, and Uno. I rock the ing house at Uno.

Does installing the game really make such a difference?

Does installing the game really make such a difference? Depends on the game. The biggest difference is that the disc drive doesn't spin up meaning that the 360 doesn't get loud as hell.

Yeah, I mostly install my brand new games when I first get them just to cut down on the decibels being forced through my bedroom.

Yeah, I mostly install my brand new games when I first get them just to cut down on the decibels being forced through my bedroom. Yeah, I have like 5 games installed on my drive at a time, and when I just want to quickly play another game, it always shocks me how loud that drive is.

This is why I only play my 360 when I'm in my wind tunnel. You barely notice the drive at all.

What in game differences does it make? I recently just imported all of my stuff to a 120 GB drive and I have tons of spare room but I installed a game once on my 20GB and didnt notice any in game difference, just that it doesnt spin the disk

In some instances, it cuts back on load times. Or in some cases, like Halo 3, it actually renders the game unplayable.
Really, it's just less taxing on the console. And your eardrums.

Games like GTA4, Beatles: RB, and UFC seemed to have little to no load times after install. Just my experience though.

Also, Unreal Engine 3 games that have texture pop-in (i.e. most of them except GoW 1+2 and ME2), will have the severity of it reduced. Fable 2's inventory system becomes less terrible when installed.

Just because of the sound coming out my xbox lately, I won't play a game unless it is on my hard drive.

Nearly done with my 1st playthrough on ODST, just got one more mission left I think. Pretty good stuff, I've thoroughly enjoyed it.
