Hatchet II ('10) - 9.2 (A-)
I dunno. I like where they went, the story they told, but I just felt everything could have been MORE. More crazy. More violent. More funny. More fast. When Crowley starts rampaging, crapgets insane, but they rehash a lot of the first film to get the full backstory going, when really, it could have been done in like title cards. Oh well. Danielle Harris wasn't great, terrible accent, but I love her nonetheless, would watch her in anything. All the horror icons ruled. Only other complaint was not enough gore! Probably as much as the first, but c'mon, top that shit! Still a great slasher, super gory, with some kills that you've never seen anywhere ever before. Go see it in theaters if you can this weekend, well worth the money, however, it falls short of being a perfect sequel/horror movie.
Aside from the movie itself, the experience was the best part. So many horror peeps were there, we saw our buddies that make horror shirts, Alex Pardee, Joe Lynch, James Gunn, Derek Mears, the entire Hatchet II cast (including John Carl Beuchler, Tony Todd, Kane Hodder, Tom Holland, and Danielle Harris), so many fun people that just love horror movies. Wish everyone could have been there. The great part is, we'll get to see all the same people in like 3 weeks at the horror convention. I'm stoked.

I wish my theater was getting it this weekend. I would drive the distance! Not sure if this is a spoiler...but was the main character from the first one back in the second? Not sure if he died or not. I forget his name...but he was also in Avatar and Spiral. Did Adam Green mention his next project?

Thought I would drop in and tell you guys that 'Frozen' was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The second I'm done with work tomorrow I'm rushing out to purchase the film on blu-ray if I can find it. Agreed. Saw this a while back at one of my independent theaters during a mini film festival, loved it, still need ot purchase though. I've been introducing as many friends to it as possible

No, Joel David Moore dies at the end of the first (if you haven't seen the first, get the hell out of the horror thread) remember? She thinks it's his arm, and it is, it's just not connected to his body. So then it cuts immediately to black.
This movie flash cuts open to that very same second, just Victor Crowley and violence immediately.
No, he said he doesn't know. The thing is, he just finished this. Will probably be a few more months until he gets something else going.

Saw Buried earlier. Wouldn't really say it counts as a horror, but oh well. Terrific film.

Whoa, busy day here! My friend gave me an old VHS copy of TCM2 today. I know DVD is far superior but man, there was nothing like going into a video store and staring at all the vhs covers in the horror movie section.

I still have the Best Buy DVD with the keychain. Noza.... was Buried pretty awesome in general? I liked the concept and was pretty excited for it.

It has the old "Breakfast Club" inspired cover to it. I remember being 7 or 8 and sneaking off to stare at the cover while my parents were at the check out. Freakin EPIC cover.

Just got done watching "Frozen"... Wow! What a fantastic movie. It's honestly the closest thing I've seen in years to being truly "terrifying." It's a simple enough premise but the realism of it all, as I said, is terrifying. Green's writing makes it extremely difficult to predict what's going to happen next, and it's always what you'd least expect. There were a few times where it was so tense I had to turn away.
If you haven't seen this yet, I'd strongly recommend you do so. ASAP.

Noza.... was Buried pretty awesome in general? I liked the concept and was pretty excited for it. Ah man, it was just tense as . Well worth the hype. Was executed perfectly, bar from one stupid scene invloving a snake, that was just done to make the audiance feel for the dude even more, even though it was totally pointless. Great film, though. Reccomend it highly.

I don't even know what that is, but it sounds like a crappy thriller. Wait, is that the one with Chubs McGee (Zellweger)? Because I saw that trailer.
Of course it's terrible, didn't you watch the trailer?

Personally, I think the concept of the "creepy or scary kid" is kind of played out.

I saw "Catfish" about a week ago. It was a very good movie, although not at all what I was expecting. Man I just got back from Catfish and was PISSED. Ive spent all summer hyping this movie and DEMANDING IT on there website...and minutes before I was leaving for either The Social Network or Let Me In I noticed one theater got Catfish. Went to the midnight release and was very disappointed...the trailer made the TWIST out to be WAY MORE Than it was. I mean I know Hollywood likes to add the shock factor but damn... its NOTHING like the trailer makes it out to be. Its kinda obvious if you think about the most logical thing that could happen. Didnt feel any sort of tension or terror. I loved the first half leading up to the twist but then it really sucked. Which is weird since most reviewers are saying that the ending makes it. I can see how it would be cool for the actual film makers because if I was in there shoes it would be one hell of a ride...but for me as a viewer I felt that I was lead on a different path. All I can say is DONT buy into the hype like I did Will be seeing Let Me In and The Social Network on Saturday. Gotta start watching a horror film a day now that we are in October... not sure what I will be starting out with just yet.
