I forgot to post my thoughts on the Strangers.
I thought it had some good "jumpy" moments and an ending I didn't expect. Some of the acting was pretty sub-par though, which took away some enjoyment.

I watched Hellraiser: Bloodline today.
Now, just to get this out the way first, i'll throw out an opinion of mine which some may agree with: Horror films set in the future/space just aren't scary. Oh sure, you'll get one every now and then which is shocking and horrific, but unfortunately this film isn't one of them.
The main problem is this: We don't live in the future. We don't live in the technical dytopia in which many of these films are set, and thus the horrors inflicted upon the protagonists will never happen to us. The suspension of disbelief is non-existent.
Now with this being said, i realised why i didn't watch this film when i first got it (I got two years ago), it was because of the whole space/future aspect. So due to this, i was about to turn it off, but i thought i'd give it a chance. I had a nice surprise when i found out it was set it modern-day time.
Overall i enjoyed the film quite alot. I've still got to watch Hellraiser 1-3, and might watch inferno.
7/10
(Just found out there are EIGHT Hellraiser films)

I caught a showing of The Last House on the Left today. I thought it was a quality thriller. Quite graphic, but it was still really well done. Never saw the original so I can't compare it to anything but I did enjoy this movie. I was expecting it to be really slow, but it ended up being pretty well paced.

I hated Strangers in theaters...but watched it last week on blu. Really enjoyed it... the fact that when i saw it in theaters i had an annoying kid sitting next to me really ruined it. Glad I gave it another chance.

The theater experience can make or break a movie depending on the other people in the theater

Last night i picked up "The Midnight Meat Train"
It was very violent and bloody, which was good. The story itself was actually pretty good. The main story was "Killer kills people on trains at night", but then you find out, why he does (and of course, you see how he does, which is very cool)
7/10

Box Of The Banned - Depraved & Corrupt Nightmare In A Damaged BrainThis particular title was at some stage banned during the video nasties debate many years ago,it is however available in a cut version which doesn`t dilute the nastiness of this film. Basically it tells the story of a patient with severe mental problems who is released after "successful" drug treatment for the horrific nightmares he had as a child. This doesn`t prevent him from stalking and brutally killing the various victims he meets. Finally he sets about stalking his ex-wife and kids as part of some retribution for his condition. Now, in terms of gore, it wasn't really that bad compared to horror films we see now, but it did seem pretty bad back then. 5/10 I Spit On Your GraveLets be perfectly clear, 'I Spit On Your Grave' is not feminist masterpiece. It is not a classic in the rape and revenge genre. It is a total waste of time, and is complete rubbish. It doesn't matter whether you see a cut or uncut version it stinks either way. The rape scenes are not harrowing, and the dreadful overacting from the male characters during the rapes makes the whole sequence look laughable. The revenge taken after the rapes comes across as bizarre and awkwardly contrived, and just doesn't convince at all. To top it all, the portrayal of one of the rapists as being 'intellectually- disabled', probably to cause a bit more controversy, just comes over as crass and is deeply insulting to your intelligence. Now, there is the infamous "Bathtub" scene when the women slices of the mans....yeah. Now that was pretty bloody, but still could'nt save the film. Although this film is being remade later this year, so they should be able to get away with alot more stuff. 5/10 Zombie Flesh Eaters 2Yes, it's that film with the "Eye + Wood = Splinter" scene. I think it was that certain scene that got it banned in the first place. So i was happy to see it was there in all it's bloody glory. Now this film, in zombie terms is very bad (My all time faveourite zombie film is "Day Of The Dead"). I mean there are 3 "good" scenes: - The brain splatter - The Eye + Wood - The Bite Those are the only three scenes that i would consider gory. But compared to todays standard, it really is nothing. Well with that being said, "Day Of The Death" surpassed this films on gore terms by far, yet "Day Of The Dead" was not banned. This gets a 5/10. Driller KillerDriller Killer is a story about a struggling artist living in New York in the 1970s.The poor man has to put up with a nagging girlfriend and a punk band rehearsing next door at full volume for what seems like the entire film.To help his frustrations he feels the need to wander New York with a cordless power drill, which he uses to attack tramps and general down and outs.Although this film has a very large reputation, after seeing it i felt very disapointed at the quality of acting and the entire film in general. At one stage i asked myself "Is this the uncut version?". And it was, not alot of gore, but still deemed as "The most Nasty, Violent, Bloody Film Ever" 4/10 Evil DeadAt the time of writing, The Evil Dead is now a quarter of a century old but it is still one of my all time top ten horror movies and it is still capable of giving me the creeps. There are still plenty of timeless moments but the thing that I have always and still really love about this is the creepy camera work and weird noises, I was only a child when I saw this on video not long after it was released but was far too young to understand all the hype and controversy that surrounded it, so from a personal point of view, this just made it all the better. Right from the beginning when the five youngsters are travelling by car on that narrow road alongside those woods and the way in which the camera view hovers over that river as if something evil that cannot be seen is following them, I just had a feeling even at such a young age (I had already seen plenty of horror movies before it and so I was already a converted fan) that this was going to be something like I had never seen before but I wasn't expecting what was about to follow. Like I said, I love the camera work in this movie for example, when they first arrive at the cabin, the way in which they very slowly drive towards it surrounded by woods and it goes almost deadly silent. For some reason even though absolutely nothing happens when they first arrive, it never fails to give me the creeps when they get out of the car and they all just stand there without saying a word just looking at the cabin as if they don't know what to say or think plus at the same time that thing (I still don't know what the hell it is) outside the cabin which makes that banging noise (and stops when one of them picks up the cabin keys) also for some reason never fails to give me the creeps and I find the whole look of the cabin inside very creepy, all these little underappreciated moments that I find really creepy and this is in the first ten minutes, it just brilliantly plays with my imagination, proof again as far as I am concerned, that the low budget look will always be more scary than any expenisive mainstream blockbuster horror movie can ever be. Although sometimes the effects in this do look a litte cheap or ridiculous (especially that animation type scene near the end), there are still plenty which are still very effective in my opinion, I still particularly find the eyes by those possessed and the noises that they make truly horrible and that legendary card guessing scene, timeless. If you have never seen The Evil Dead and you like your horror movies, then the best way I can describe it overall is plenty of blood and guts, funny at times, not at all complex but most importantly it is creepy with some of the best camera and sound effects ever to appear in horror movie. In terms of horror films today - 6/10 In terms of banned horor films - 8/10 Last House On The LeftI was slightly dissapointed, only because of the massive controversy the film has received in the past leads you to believe its far worse than it really is...ok, so its not easy to watch, but there are many films these days with just as many, if not more explicitly gory scenes. As for the cut bits ( one of the girls intestines being pulled out and krug carving his name into the other ones chest) - you can find them on the internet. I agree with most people - there really is no reason to cut them. The BBFC should just get over it and release the film uncut. (I also i have the fully un-cut version on DVD now) Overall this film gets a 7/10 Box Of The Banned 2 - Even More Depraved & Corrupt [/u] I will review this boxset soon.[/u]

Halloween has come early for me this year!
I was at our local bulk food store stocking up on candy when a vision caught my eye...easter candy corn! I don't know about everywhere else, but around here we only get candy corn at Halloween. I don't know who was more excited, me or my 3 year old daughter. Yes, the love of Halloween is strong in that one....

Zombie Strippers Low budget, packed with gore, so bad its good. Robert Englund seems like he will appear in any film no matter how bad these days. But, it was fun, i love a good b-movie and this was one. A simple no-brainer film that if you watch it without taking it serious, you'll enjoy it (The ping-pong-snooker ball fight was great) 7/10

Night of the Living Dead: Necropolis.
...Well, lets just say it was not a good zombie movie, complete knock of Resident Evil, and we know how good those movies were.
