dr. dre?
=/
yikes. dude doesnt even write his own rhymes. but to each their own.
to me, its krayzie bone. there isnt a rapper alive that is as versatile as he is flow wise and vocally. not to mention his flat out musical superiority that he has over the majority of rappers in the game.

Tech N9ne
Close runner ups are:
Jay-Z Nas Obie Trice Royce Da 5'9" Malice and Pusha T of the Clipse Joe Budden Lupe Fiasco (I think he's overrated, but I can't ignore the fact he does have skills)

Wow what a ****ty list. I mean really. I will not even comment on who you are missing because really it is to much. This should be titled who is the most popular rap artist. ...and out come the indie rap fans. WHERES TALIB KWELI! LUPE FIASCO IS NOTICABLY MISSING TOO! AHHHHHHHHH You are an idiot. Honestly. I am not a rap fan at all but even I know there are better rappers out there. What about Common? The problem with this list is there is no OTHER on it. Common is snart without having to put women down " I'll never call you a bitch, to even my crew. There's so much more in a name so much more in you." Can anyone else on that list even compare to that?

Kanye West is the biggest rapper today and he isn't listed All I listen to rap-wise is Kanye and Jay-Z, I'm a white kid who doesn't like rap after all so it's a rule to like Kanye. i'm in the same boat. the only rap i listen to is Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco.

The fact that Dr.Dre is leading proves that hardly anyone on this board really even truly likes hip hop. Dre is a producer, and probably the best at doing THAT, today. But rapper?? Definately not even close.
Your list is basically all commercial, so that narrows things down a little unfairly since the best rapper alive currently isnt even on there. But, from your list, it'd have to be either Wayne, Nas, or Jay.

But the material he has put out from NWA to the Chronic to 2001 is all great. So you can't blame them for liking him the most.

The fact that Will Smith made the list, and Lupe Fiasco didn't absolutely saddens me.

Anybody who bashes Will Smith and laughs at him being considered a rapper is a f***ing moron.
He did a lot more for rap than anyone will ever give him credit for...but since he was the goofy looking kid who wore neon green and told the world how "Parents just don't understand" nobody takes him serious.
I personally love Will Smith. Well vintage rap Will Smith.
Anyways best rapper alive....hmm..
Who said Dr. Dre? Haha. The guy is an amazing producer. probably number one producer alive today..if not that then definately number 2. But rapper? He doesn't even write his own stuff.. Em helped him a lot..
along with one of my picks..
Royce Da 5'9"- The guy is amazing on the mic. He did a lot of ghostwriting for Dre's last hit album. He really lets his words speak to you. You could easily listen to his stuff and think it came from the early 80's, thats how real it is. But lately he hasn't been doing much. His old stuff is really good though. Download "HIP-HOP", "I and Me", and "Throwback".
Eminem- Go to youtube right now. type in rare eminem freestyle. Find the one with Proof and Em chilling in the driveway in a truck and listen to Em kill it. The guy thinks so fast it is amazing. There are good freestylers but not a whole lot are able to tell a story while doing it...Em is able to do that. Or he could just throw a bunch of one-liners at you. Very versatile rapper. Can't wait til King Mathers comes out. Hopefully Slim Shady comes back...because I'm getting a little sick of this Marshall Mathers s***.
LIL WAYNE- WEEZY MOTHERF***ING BABY. He is undoubtedly the king right now. In my eyes. He is on top of the rap game. He can go on anybody elses record and make it a hit. He did something crazy like 70 special features on songs last year and a good majority of them were top 10 hits. The carter III is going to be a classic. Download "Hustla Music", "Beat without bass", "Apologize remix", "One night only" and on top of that go out and buy "The Carter" the first one and listen to that crapfrom beginning to end. If he can control his coke problem dude could be bigger than anyone in the game right now.
Kanye West- Kanye is my favorite overall. I think he comes with the heat with some songs and others he lets down a bit. Especially with his guest features on songs...some of them are whack. But "Jesus Walks", "Flashing Lights", "Spaceship" and "Bring me down" real represent Kanye as an artist. The guy is a genius. And if he didn't let his ego get in the way sometimes I think a lot more people would be able to respect his art rather than criticize his antics outside of music.
Notable mentions... Tech n9ne, The Game, T.I., Andre from Outkast, Kurupt, DMX(old school Dark Man X...not Crack man X).. and Common.
